C-Section moms- those that have staples then steri strips
When did you take the steri strips off? My OB told me this week to take them off. I am 3 weeks post C/S today.
I am so nervous to take them off, so I started taking only some off...
Was everyones incision ok after removing them? could it re-open?

incision was fine...I finally pulled them off when they were getting ratty and starting to hang off....probably 2-3 weeks pp.

My Dr had me come in to remove the steri strips so she could look at my incision. I was 2 weeks PP. My incision was fine, but she told me to continue to take it easy because the incision could re-open.
I'd be more comfortable having the Dr. remove then, not because removing them will open the incision, but because I'd like to get his/her opinion on how the incision is healing.

They told me to remove the strips 10 days PP at my visit to see how my incision was. They were falling apart already.

I had staples the 1st time and stitches the second time. Both times they gave me steri strips. The first time he told me to leave them on until the fall off and if they haven't fallen off by 3 weeks to remove them. The second time I was told the same thing (remove them at 3 weeks unless they have already fallen off).
Yes, you can still tear your stitches and people forget that (you can also still injure your internal stitches which many people don't think about - they are so focused on the exterior ones).

Same here. I took them off in the shower, no problems.

Mine started to fall off on there own, they got smelly too.... I couldn't wait to get them off!! Mine re opened on one side, the dr had to close it up by burning it with this solution stuff, it stung a little but I was glad it closed cause it smelled so bad.

I actually did not take them off ~ I left them on for when I had my staples removed. (let the dr take them off) although they were starting to come off from showering etc...

I left them for about 2 weeks, just kept showering over them. They started to peel off, hung off and I took them off b4 my 3 week pp visit.
The incision looked great, didn't reopen but it technically could. Just let the strips start to come off on their own.
