C-section moms- who drive SUV's

Was it hard to get in/out of your truck when you came home from the hospital???

Talk about weird things to be concerned about.... but I was thinking it would probably be easier for me to get in/out of DH's car then it will be w/ my truck, and maybe he should pick me up from the hospital in that instead...

I had a jeep Grand Cherokee and it took me about 5 mins to get in that thing. My babies were in the NICU so I was in and out of it alot. Doable but difficult for the 1st week or so

I didn't have a section, but my BFF just had her second last month. She had no problem getting in and out of her Liberty.

As a side note, my grandmother had multiple abdominal surgeries when Iwas a teenager and she found my SUV was easier to get in and out of b/c she could sort of, slide, out, KWIM?

I actually felt like my suv was easier than DH's car. It was easier to slide out and I could use the bar to help pull myself up and in. The car felt very low, which bothered my incision getting in and out.

We went home from the hospital in our Tahoe and I do not remember it being bad at all. I took it a little bit slower and probably more "gracefully" than normal, but it was fine!

Re: C-section moms- who drive SUV's

i agree with the others that said the SUV may be easier to get in and out of. with the regular car you kinda have to squat down to get in and that was harder for me.

I have a 2007 Toyota Rav4 and it was a little difficult getting in and out the first 2 weeks or so after my C-section.

I sat in the back and had no problem. I think it would have been more difficult to have to bend down. I was able to step right into my car.

I don't remember it being bad, and then after the trip from the hospital, I don't think I was in it for a few days.

Re: C-section moms- who drive SUV's

At the time I had a VW Touareg and it was a little uncomfy trying to get in. But I'm short and it was a bit high for me on a normal day, but I took it slow.

Both DH and I drive SUVs...He drives a Jeep Liberty and thats the car he picked me up in.
I'll be honest..It HURT getting in the car..I got one leg in and the security guard had to give me a push Chat Icon to get the rest of me in.
Getting in hurt, getting out was a lot easier.
I drive a Hundyai Santa Fe and believe it or not, it was easier getting in and out of my car..It's a bit lower.

Re: C-section moms- who drive SUV's

We had an Xterra which was very high off the ground and a PITA to climb into. We actually used a step stool so I could climb in and out of the truck with ease (it was still hectic to be honest)

Thankfully we have since gotten rid of the truck and I won't have that issue this time

No it wasn't hard for me to get in and out of my car coming home from the hospital....it was actually easier for me to just scoot up and down then to try to pick myself up from DH's car (he has a very small/low car).

Getting in was a little more difficult than getting out for me. I had to pull myself up a bit but I was on painkillers so it wasn't too bad. Chat Icon
