Cake Help
I need help picking a cake for an event but I don't know what the main person likes besides fruit. and i think cream. So i was debating a cream and fruit filling. This is what I narrowed it down to.
Help me build a delicious cake.
Cake Type CHOICES: Flavored Sponge Cake: vanilla, almond, lemon, butter, chocolate decadence
FILLING CHOICES: Two Layers Per Tier (can be both the same kind or two different kinds I think)
French Pastry Cream: Vanilla or Chocolate Mousse: Chocolate, Raspberry, Strawberry, Lemon Fruit Filling: Apricot, Lemon, Raspberry, Strawberry, Cherry, Apple, Blueberry,
ICING CHOICES: Buttercream Whipped Cream (i think she would prefer this)
Any suggestions?

Re: Cake Help
I'd try to keep it as simple as possible since you're unsure of exactly what she likes. I think something like a strawberry shortcake would be a crowd pleaser: vanilla cake, vanilla cream, strawberries and whipped cream.

I love lemon and raspberry together - what about doing the raspberry mousse with the lemon fruit filling (or you could do the lemon mousse with raspberry fruit filling, although I would prefer the other way around)? Another option I would consider would be the vanilla cream with raspberry, strawberry or lemon fruit filling. With any of those options, I would go with the vanilla, almond or butter cake. (And my personal pick would be butter cream, but if you know she prefers the whipped cream, then go with that).

I would stay away from almonds because nut allergies are rampant. I love raspberries, so I start with the filling and go with the cake.. chocolate, vanilla and lemon would pair well I think. If the chocolate is too chocolatey then I would steer clear. And yes, whip cream icing is a great choice!

I'm leaning towards raspberry and vanilla pastry cream fillings. do they go together?

Yes, I think the mild tartness of raspberry will go well with the vanilla cream :)

Yep, this was my top choice. You could do a butter sponge for richness, whipped cream on the outside.
