cake smash pics help needed
hey ladies,
we wanted to do a cake smash photo session for DS's 1st birthday but can't afford the prices (silly unemployment!) a friend of ours works in a photo studio and would be willing to do them for us. a few logistics questions:
1. is it better to do it at home or outside in a park? (thinking clean-u wise)
2. what kind of props would we need?
3. where can i get a cute outfit for this? preferably mickey mouse themed?
4. what kind of outfit should it be? romper? just pants? onesie?
5. any specific cake or will any do? any specific icing needed? what decorations, if any, on the cake?
IDEAS AND PICS WELCOME! TIA!!!

***HOME! You will need a bath RIGHT AWAY. Have it ready before the shoot is over.
2. what kind of props would we need?
***Just a little cake, a background, and something covering the floor.
3. where can i get a cute outfit for this? preferably mickey mouse themed?
***I got a giraffe onesie on Etsy - the less clothes the better! LOL I wish I could have just thrown it out after.
4. what kind of outfit should it be? romper? just pants? onesie?
***I am a onesie fan - so cute!
5. any specific cake or will any do? any specific icing needed? what decorations, if any, on the cake?
***My photographer picked up a little cake from Waldbaum's - nothing fancy. You could make one if you want. I am a fan of the big cupcake!
IDEAS AND PICS WELCOME! TIA!!!
***My pictures are a secret until after her birthday - I am tired of people printing them out before I can get the prints!

Re: cake smash pics help needed
The simpler the better!
At home was easiest for me! As Tilde says...bath is needed immediately!!!
I bought cake from Stop & Shop (stacked 1 small one on top of a big one....DS is a big boy & I did not want him dwarfing the cake
I used a blue paper backdrop I bought on line. Since your friend is a photographer, see if he has something!(paper is best since it is REALLY messy!!!) If not you are welcome to borrow my roll of blue paper....there is tones left on it!!
Since my Dad took the pictures for me at home, th lighting is not the best, but I got fun pictures I thought!!
These are at home in my kitchen!! More in my album.

Re: cake smash pics help needed
I took my DD's pics myself...the prices to get them done were way too much for me and I work full time!! You really don't need anything...all up to you!! I just had her in a diaper cover. Took some with different outfits but liked this one. Buttercream or a soft icing works best, as it is messier. Here is the one I used for thank you cards. Image Attachment(s):

Re: cake smash pics help needed
I also did DS's myself. I did it at home with the help of a friend.
We didn't use any props, but I've seen some with balloons that looked nice.
I preferred just having him in his diaper.
I made a cake. I made my own buttercream icing. I just used the #1 candle on top.
Less is more IMHO.
Here's a link to some of the pictures I posted: http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic-566223-1.html
