calling all Commack locals!
Greetings! My husband and I are new to the Commack area and I am looking for recommendations for a few things I'd like to have closer to home (old home was Massapequa so everything was in Nassau). Can anyone suggest their:
Nail Salon (inexpensive but quality mani/pedi)
Hair Salon (cut/color, low to moderately priced)
Primary doctor
Dentist
Dermotologist
Gyno
Any help would be great appreciated! If it helps we are just east of Mayfair shopping center and just west of Commack/Macy's Plaza. Thanks in advance!

Re: calling all Commack locals!
Nail Salon - Milk & Honey on Jericho Turnpike - it is in a shopping center with a dance studio directly across from Ruby Tuesday. There's also Floris in the same shopping center as Commack Florist which is directly across from White Castle and the Commack Motor Inn. Both places are great.
Hair Salon - I know a lot of people who like Bocu but it's definitely not inexpensive. I highly recommend Sivana in St. James (next town over - St. James is in Smithtown)... it's not too far, they do an amazing job and they have fair pricing.
Primary Doctor - I love Belding, Dragone, O'Brien, and Shetty in Smithtown on Brooksite Drive -- it's right down Jericho right past the bull so easy from Commack. Dr. Kristin O'Brien is my fave there! She is great and the nurse practitioners are excellent there too - Mona is my fave of the NPs. They have walk-in hours everyday so it's so easy to be seen. Love it there! I know a lot of people also like Dr. Arthur Friedman in Commack too. He is on Commack Road.
I drive for my dentist because he is that good -- to Stony Brook so I don't have a rec there.
Dermatologist - Yeah again there are probably great ones in Commack but I have such a great office that's right in Smithtown - so it's about a ten minute drive but SO worth it. It's on Middle Country Road right past Main Street and the name is Dr. Donna Serure - or any of her associates. LaserDerm Dermatology is the practice name.
My Gyno has office locations at the St. Catherine of Siena medical building on the property of St. Catherine's Hospital in Smithtown -- Dr. Natalia Flores if you would like a woman or Dr. Lisa Amorin. They also have Dr. Marin in the practice who is great too. If you want a man or don't care my actual gyno is the best best BEST - I love him so much, Dr. Charles Mann but many people prefer women and I know that all of the women in the practice are AMAZING. Dr. Mann and Dr. Flores delivered my son. Love them. Dr. Amorin did surgery on me to remove a cyst with Dr. Mann so I've had tons of experience with everyone there. The office is called Women's Health Professionals. They also have a location in Stony Brook. Again, it's about a ten minute drive down Jericho right past the bull but worth it :)
Considering you are east of Mayfair shopping center it is actually even closer for you -- you really are right on the Smithtown border. You are closer to Smithtown High School West than you are to Commack HS! LOL! Funny right??
I like Brooklyn Pizza for take out pizza and stuff. I love Mannino's in Commack and they have a Smithtown location for sit-down Italian. Also, Taormina is amazing in the same shopping center as Commack Jewelry Exchange. The diner that I like is Premiere by the LIE on Commack Road. I'm not a fan of Candlelight Diner. For a good car wash my father in law owns Commack Hand Car Wash right across from Commack Macy's and a few doors down from White Castle/Commack Motor Inn -- it is 100% hand wash and you'll know it by the red awning. My FIL is the one with the silver hair who is always running around with a big thick italian accent It's a good car wash :) Their specialty is detailing cars.
I know the greek place by Emilio's is great. I know that Eastern Garden Chinese is pretty good too (also in that shopping center). I know a lot of people like Foo Luck on Commack Road too.
You are not far from Maureen's Kitchen in Smithtown - great breakfast and lunch place, all homemade - pretty famous. Also, Javier's Homestyle Cafe on Main Street in Smithtown is delicious. There's Chopshop in Smithtown - we really like their food. There's La Famiglia right past the bull on Middle Country which has family style Italian, delicious! Then everyone loves Casa Rustica too. In Commack on Jericho there's Casa Luis - not my kind of cuisine by it's my FIL's favorite restaurant.
Hope that helps :)

ah! Clearly I don't know east from west!! I meant i am just WEST of mayfair and EAST of Macy's!
Either way, this is GREAT and thorough - thank you so much! I will def look into these doctor suggestions and check with my ins company.
Foodwise, so far we have tried Emilio's (loved) and Candlelight Diner (decent), Nissen (best sushi ever), and Izumi for hibachi (yum) - can't wait to try your suggestions!

This is great to know, My friend did some work in his office and recommended this office as well. I really don't care for my primary in St. James, so I will make an appt. here..
Didn't mean to hijack thread...

This is good to know. I have a gift certificate for a complete detailing for there. Have just been waiting for the weather to let up a little before taking it in so hopefully in the next two weeks! There is always a HUGE line on the weekends.

Re: calling all Commack locals!
I can recommend the nail and hair place in the same shopping center that I really like. As someone else mentioned Lavendar Tips in the IGA shopping center located in East Northport (this would be like a 10/15 minute ride for you) and Total Image salon which is in the same shopping center (use Beth) HCBD are $35 she's really good. The pizza place there is always busy too it's called Fillettos not sure they will deliver out by you but if your there and want to pick up a pie they are really good. Emilio's by you is great too. I've used Cactus salon in Mayfair and used Leslie she was great but it's real pricey.

This really is amazing - I can't thank you all enough! We just moved to the area late December and haven't been able to explore much with all this damn snow! Can't wait til spring!
I thought of one more thing - any dog parks nearby? I know Blydenburgh Park in Smithtown is pretty close but was wondering if there is any closer. :)

As for restaurants - we LOVE Andreas 25 - go there all the time and have never had a bad meal. I like Greek Village (in the Macy's shopping center); we usually order pizza from 3 Bambinos and Chinese from Foo Luck - I don't love their food, but its the best Chinese I've found so far (but still looking).

Not closer than Blydenburgh but I know there's one in Huntington - ehhh I think it is Sweet Hills Park or Dog Park -- if you google dog park in Huntington it comes up but I know it's not closer than Blydenburgh - I think you are best with that one.

You're thinking of West Hills Dog park and that would not be closer. Blydenburgh would be the best recommendation.

It's not a dog park but, the park over by the docks in Northport Village has a group that seems to meet there every weekend (even in the snow!) so you might want to go there and check it out
