calling all moms who make baby food!
So DS is 9 months old now, I have always given him jarred food. I wanted to startb giving him some more variety and texture. What could I make for him in advance and freeze? I have no idea what to feed this kid, he can't have dairy. I was reading some old post and alot of you say to freeze in ice cube trays...but I would have a million ice cube trays in the freezer?? Also Annabel karmel books....which are good for this age and up. I feel like I waited to long to learn to do this

I just started making Molly's food so I can't be much help but I did buy Annabel Karmel's "First Meals" and it's excellent. She has meals up to toddler age. Great source on how to make healthy, kid friendly foods. I definitely recommend it.

I second that! Excellent book, it was my bible untill Benjamin started eating same food as us.
No advice on freezing though, I never did that.

I use Annabel Karmel's book and Ava has a milk allergy. I just omit it or substitute it with formula.

You can sub rice milk or soy milk for anything with milk - I do it all the time for myself....

Re: calling all moms who make baby food!
Does he have a dairy sensitivity?
My ped said Ella could have things MADE with milk, but she shouldn't have milk yet. She doesn't have any allergies or sensitivities (and is on a milk based formula), so its fine.
In fact when he was over the other night, he insisted on sharing his mashed potatoes with her. She's 7 months, and has had dairy: cheese, yogurt and the mashed potatoes (made w/milk & butter)
As for making her food, I make her a lot of fruits and veggies, freeze in ice cube trays and then pop them in plastic bags to store. That way I always have a variety to offer her, and I can give her more flavors than the jarred foods. As she's been getting older, I've been leaving a little more texture in the food - less pureeing. And some things I just cook soft and give small pieces fresh.
She's not on meats yet, but I don't think I'll freeze those.

Re: calling all moms who make baby food!
Yes he has a milk sensitivity. He is not on milk based formula. They just ok'd him having things like Zweiback Toast, which has butter and stuff with Whey in it, but he can't have pure dairy or mashed potatoes if I make them with milk. We are seeing a new Gastro dr mid feb for a second opinion b/c I'm really starting to think this woman doesn't know what she's talking about but that's a whole other post!
