Can an internal cause you to have contractions?
I had my 38 week appointment today( still can't believe I made it to 38 weeks with all my pre-term labor scares)
Anyway she did an internal and since this morning I'm having a lot of contractions. They are all over the place but still coming on pretty strong. Is it possible the internal stirred something up a little? I was only just 1cm.

Yep. It totally depends on how ready your body is, but internals can definately bring on contractions.
I had an internal earlier in the week and it brought on contractions for a few hours. Unfortunately, they stopped eventually, so no baby for me yet! But I've heard of other women who actually went into labor shortly after an internal.

do you know if your doctor "played around" while she was doing the internal. a number of my friends went for their last internal and they went into labor about 48 hours later - come to find out that the doctor did some "poking" around to get things started.

Not to be TMI but she was in there for a litte longer then normal feeling around. So maybe she did? That would be so nice if I went into labor. I'm ready for this baby lol
