Thinking of going back to work part time but I'm unsure if it's worthwhile with 2 kids. Any idea what 2 days/week for a 1 and 3 yr old might cost? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for part time daycare cost

we are looking into this now in bohemia-medford-middle island area:
1 yo is between $147-213 for 2 days and $220-270 for 3 days
3 yo should be cheaper, especially if potty trained
10% off usually the cheaper one for sibling discount

this is for child care centers-- 10 hrs / day.

in home ones are probably cheaper.

3 days a week for 8 hrs/day for a 1 yr old and 3 yr old is approximately $1,450 per month. Obviously it would be less for only two days.

This is in the Port Jeff area. It's at a center, but not a chain.

So are you saying that no day care center will have part time for kids under 18 mos or just the one you attend?

You will definitely find a daycare that takes them both part time. My daycare takes infants part time and at 12 months they stop sleeping in cribs at my daycare.

What area are you looking. It's been awhile since my DS was part time but I can grab the rate sheet if you want.

My daycare takes infants PT, both of my kids went PT, so yup, you'll find them like the above poster said. PT for one we pay $210/week.

2 days a week at mine is 191 for 1 yr old and 172 for a 3 year old. This is for 10 hours. It's only 10% off if you are full time. Not sure if they are all like that.

Mine does not. some do, it just may be more difficult to find one that take full time infants.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for part time daycare cost

My LO is 8 months and has been in daycare part-time since she was 3 months. Small, in-home daycare (8 kids total) in Nassau County. We pay $190/week for 3 days...

Re: Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for part time daycare cost

I work part-time, two days a week and have always found hiring a sitter is cheaper than a day care center.

My sitter comes from 7-5:30 and I pay her $120/day (my kids are 2.5 and 5 but she started with us, at this rate, whey they were 4 months and 2.5yrs)

Re: Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for part time daycare cost

it really depends on the center, and time -
Mine were close to $2400 a month for 3x a week, 6:45 am - 6pm.

My place allowed my infant DD to go 2 days a week and some weeks 3 days a week..,
And it was always different- and different days too.
they were very flexible. A lot of centers do part time for infants, don't worry

Re: Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for part time daycare cost

DS went 2 days a week when he was three and it was about $160 a week for a chain center.

This was a couple of years ago.
