Re: Question about the cost of full time daycare
The cost depends on if you use a center vs in home vs nanny. In home (on average) will cost 250/week. A center around 1000.00-1300.00/month. A nanny about 15/hr.
Most center's (and in home) dayacres are closed for the major holidays (you would most likely be off anyway) - You get a calendar ahead of time so that you can plan those days off, or arrange for alternate care.

Re: Question about the cost of full time daycare
Most of the daycare centers I saw were $900-1200 for full-time. It is also good to have a back-up sitter when they are closed.

Re: Question about the cost of full time daycare
We pay 1365.00 a month for up to 8 hours a day, five days a week, it would be more for more hours a day...
When they are closed I try and be off, we have my sister babysit--she is a teacher, his mom, or DH...it's hard, but we manage..

Re: Question about the cost of full time daycare
It gets less as they get older. I'm paying a little over $1100 a month for Maddie (aged 3 yo). That includes the hour before the center opens & the late pickup fee.
One advantage to my daycare is it's open every day except major holidays. They also do "vacation" camp during the school holidays for my older son.

Mel, I think there is some tax deduction on it.
My mom does daycare so I can ask her.

Re: Question about the cost of full time daycare
yes- if you are paying for day care- it is tax deductable if it is at a center. if it is a nanny- it is only tax deductable if that person is claimng the $ as income and you would need their s/s # so they'd have to be legal too.
