As an infant did your DC smile, giggle, laugh and interact with others?
If so, at what age did it stop (if it did)

This is regarding my nephew:

Did DC never interact well in social settings? As an infant and very young toddler he was happy,and smiled and full of live.

As an infant did your DC smile, giggle, laugh and interact with others? Yes
If so, at what age did it stop (if it did) at about 3 it started to stop. He will still smile and laugh, even at 9 but he does not interact well.

When did you realize that something may be off with DC..we all knew at 2 when he just stopped making ALL sounds and did not play as he was before. His eye contact changed as well.

any other info on how they interact socially with others
At the current time my nephew will interact with family with his hands over his ears, typically with his coat still on ready to leave the situation. He does not like my 3 year old when he is running around and moving quickly thru rooms. It really makes it hard for him to calm down.

As a toddler he played around the children, but not *with* them. Now at 10, he likes to play with other kids, but because of the fact that he doesn't know how to make appropriate conversation, he has a hard time.

No, as a toddler he did though.

When did you realize that something may be off with DC

He had a speech delay at age 2 and I called EI.

He has a hard time conversating. Doesn't understand the give and take of a conversation and can't carry on a conversation about one topic. Typically strays and starts talking about something else.
