Can anyone help with a day care resignation letter PLEASE...
Ok, here is the situation summed up, we live in GA, and our 2 and a half year old Kaitlyn was enrolled in Primrose to secure her pre K spot, for half days only. Well, after seeing the activities offered at the school, playball, pre-ballet, and Kindermusic, she was going 5 half days. Kaitlyn was diagnosed with kidney reflux at age 1 and has a specific routine with going on the potty. Because of the reflux she is not allowed to use certain wipes, fragrances, bubbles, etc. Guess what, 3 weeks ago, she had a 105 fever for 2 days, then it was brought down to around 101-103 which went on for 4-5 days, finally she was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection, the Dr advised me at that point, NOT to send her back to school. We discussed our options, and Kaitlyn and I were back and forth at the Dr daily for a shot as well as urine cultures. Last year when we saw the pediatric urologist they placed her on a daily medicine of Septra until the middle of August, which then she will have a new procedure to determine if the kidney reflux has been repaired. I've called the school to let them know the situation and they said I have to still pay beyond the 30 days, well the kicker is, when she was moved into a new classroom the new teacher claims she was not advised of her situation and used just the school wipes on her. I received my statement today and they charged me $15 per day for one week that I was late. I remitted payment but did not add that amount to the check because they told me not to worry just to take care of Kaitlyn and get the payment there when I could. So, now what do I do? I have to give them the 30 day notice, and need to write the letter, I am not sure where to begin. Her urologist, and PCP have both said not to send her back until the testing in August. Obviously, Kaitlyns needs come first and I'm going to do what they say, but I'm really worried about the school, apparently they are very sue happy. If you were in my situation how would you handle this?
Oh.... I found out about the teachers not using proper wipes when she called to check in on Kaitlyn.

I don't think you have to go into details. Maybe something simple like:
Please accept this letter as my 30 day notice that Kaitlyn will no longer be a student at XXX effective 8/15/08.

If they had her medical condition in writing with the specifics of the wipes, creams, etc., you could always threaten to counter sue if it came down to that (you mentioned they are very "sue happy"). I am so sorry that this has happened. I hope she gets better soon and you are able to find more adequate child care for her. Maybe a nanny or in-home care would be a better fit?

Ok, here goes . . .
Dear PreSchool:
As you were made aware when my daughter was first enrolled in your preschool, she has medical issues which require that she follow a very specific potty routine, and that her use of wipes and other products be limited to only those that I supply. Recently, my daughter became extremely ill and missed school as a result of these instructions not being followed by a member of your staff.
Accordingly this letter is a follow up to our telephone conversation of _____ (fill in the date), where I informed you that my daughter would not be returning to your establishment. This decision was not reached on a whim, and is being made at the behest of her treating physicians.
Furthemore, I am in receipt of a bill requesting $15 per day in late fees. I am frankly appalled that such a demand has been made after I was specifically told by _____________ (fill in the name of the person you talked to) when she and I spoke on the phone about payment, that I should "not worry" about payment, and instead focus my attention on getting my daughter healthy. I therefore sincerely hope that you will reconsider your request for late charges and waive them given the extreme circumstances involved here.
Sincerely,
Concerned Parent

I like this one. It also puts them on notice if they try to sue you, you would consider countersuing based on their disregard for your (and your doctor's) instructions.

Re: Can anyone help with a day care resignation letter PLEASE...
Thanks girls I am just really baffled by their behavior as a whole, after further looks at the statement I realzie they also charged the $15 on Saturday as well as sunday. I am a SAHM so we really don't need the care but more so had her enrolled to secure her spot in this private accredited school. It just so upsetting to us because we kept communication up with them as well as researched this place head to toe, we drove 9 miles out of our way for this specific location because it had minimal violatios. The director called me about an hour or so ago, and was completely rude and heartless and said Oh, I thought she was going to private pre K and kindergarten here, and that we would not be able to re enroll her because of this situation. So, sad.
