Can ANYONE read I Love You Forever without crying??

I tried reading this book to DS for the first time tonight and I couldn't get through it.

I had to stop because I was sobbing. Chat Icon

We switched to I Can Lick 30 Tigers.

Seemed easier. Chat Icon

PS - DH was unaffected. I don't think he has a soul.

Can anyone give the author of this? I've never heard of it and just looked on Amazon, and a few similar titles came up. I'm sure it's a beautiful book that I'd love to have!

Is this the one where she is old and holding her grown son in her lap.
If so yes I can read it without crying. My friend got this at her shower and it got passed around and I was laughing hysterical. I get the point, I really do but something about and old lady with gray hair holding her 40 year old son in her lap just cracked me up.
We don't have this book though.

is this the mother/son book?

I personally thought it was very disturbing....the whole mother climbing into her son's room to read him the book while he sleptChat Icon I thought it was kinda freaky. I didn't like it. But the premise is cute I guess.

Yup I feel the same way.

Now "Guess How Much I Love You"...call me nuts but I bawl every time!! I just can't finish the last line...I get out "to the moon" but the "and back" rarely gets through my lips...

She doesn't read him a book. She sings him a song:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

It starts with her saying it to him as a baby, then again throughout his life, until she's old and sick and he says it to her.

I well up just thinking about it. Chat Icon

Hmmm...all the moms who said they don't cry have girls.

I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Chat Icon

here is why i dont have a soul when reading this book-----

ever see the friends episode where joey didnt get emma (rachels daughter) anything for her first b-day, and he decides to do a "dramatic" reading of the book for her bday?? its just hysterical...the whole concept of "i was supposed to get her something??" lol- sorry....

I haven't read it. But I tried reading The Runaway Bunny to DD, and I'd start to lose it whenever the mother said, "For you are my little bunny." So I will probably steer clear of this one. Chat Icon

Re: Can ANYONE read I Love You Forever without crying??

I have to be honest- the book should have stopped at the teen-ager stage. The whole useing a LADDER to climb into her grown (unmarried?) middle-aged son's window to hold him in her lap(?!) is VERY creepy.

The end was touching- but overall the only tears shed were due to hysterical laughing.
