If you're willing to travel into Downtown Bklyn - literally one stop on the subway - check out Sweet Melissa's Patisserie (sweetmelissapatisserie.com) - PHENOMINAL....

I think all those buttercup/little bakeshop etc are completely overrated. (IMHO)

Magnolia or Buttercup (they're the same thing.) They are awesome!

Buttercup is on 2nd Ave in the low 50s and Magnolia is in the village, Bleeker & 13th.

YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! I LOVE Sweet Melissa's. I used to live down the block from there. Their muffins and petit fours are AMAZING!!

I also knew her and her husband, Angry Wade (no joke- that's what he named his bar).

Do you know Andrea???? her work is absolutely amazing, and the last time I spoke with her she was saying how she wanted to move to the South...I was devastated!!!! But, the store is still there so that's what matters....I cannot believe how absolutely delicious EVERYTHING is....I felt like I was missing out all this time until I found them!

Years ago- I used to be a regular there. We had someone in common- I don't remember who. I used to study in Shakespeare sisters in teh winter, and Sweet Melissa's in the summer.

I remember all the girl talk I used to have sitting outside in that garden on a nice spring or summer day.

I miss Brooklyn.
