Can anyone recommend a great OBGYN with a midwife?
I'm new to East Meadow and looking for a great practice that has a couple of OBGYNs and Midwives in the EM area.
The OB that delivered my first son is in Putnam County and I don't think that would make for a good commute.
I'm sure that we'll be having more children and i would like to get recommendations.

Mnay ofthe midwves that I know who are working with an OB usually don't delivery they just work in their office. My mom is a Midwife so I'll ask her and get back to you to see if there are any good practices in Nassau. I know there are a bunch of Midwives that are affliated with Winthrop but I'm not sure which one are affiliated with Contempoary Care.
Sorry i should have asked, are you looking for the OB or the Midwife to deliver your children?

My OBGYN is wonderful. She has a midwife in her practice that does routine medical care but does not deliver babies. SHe is in New Hyde Park if you want the info.

I live in East Meadow too. There are a bunch of OB's that have midwives in Garden City that are affiliated with Winthrop. I think the OB's are the only ones that deliver though. I would recommend my OB but she doesn't have any midwives in her practice. She does have a wonderful nurse practioner that is also a OB nurse at Winthrop.

Re: Can anyone recommend a great OBGYN with a midwife?
Thank you so much for your response. My experience was that the midwife delivered the baby but as long as the person is competant, personable and has a good rep.....I'll be happy.
I just don't want to have my next child someday and an "on call" doctor that I never met shows up.

I see the midwife, Melanie, at Garden City OB-GYN on Stewart Avenue. She delivered Ella, and 3 (soon to be 4) of my SILs kids. She's a part of Dr Plancher's practice, and he comes highly recommended.
