Re: Can anyone recommend a nursing home in Queens?
Silvercrest Nursing and Rehab center. We were looking to get my grandparents in there before we knew they were eligible for the Veterans home. I used to be an EMT and have been there many times and the facility was really nice and the staff was great too. Here is the site!

Also, there are a lot of great ones in Flushing. William Beneson was one of the nicest ones I've been to in queens.

Re: Can anyone recommend a nursing home in Queens?
My grandmother was in a wonderful one. Although she was on the rehab floor because we didnt actually place her in a nursing home. The staff is amazing, nice and clean, so many activities, doesnt look or feel like a nursing home/hospital.
I THINK the name is NY Rehab Center..its on 21st street in Astoria Queens. I am sure you can do a search for the number. Excellent care!

My grandfather was in rehab at the William Beneson Home. He's home now, but I know they have a nursing home section. The place is relatively new, clean and the staff are very nice.
ETA: It's in Flushing and here's the website: http://www.flushingmanors.com/

Both Grandparents were there & I can honestly say that it was not the best care in terms of nursing home They forgot many of times to flush my grandma's feeding tube & it caused many infections...Plus she was completely immobile yet managed to break her leg while they changed her I would not go there for long term!!! I saw way too many things during the "non" visiting hours...

I would not recommend this place at all. My grandfather was there and it was horrific. Thank goodness we were able to get him out.

Ditto. My grandma was there for rehab in 2006 and they were horrible. My grandmother recently fell again and this time we able to get her into Ozanam Hall due to a connection. Ozanam staff was amazing and very attentive.

Really? Wow! Sorry to hear that. I guess you really never know with nursing homes. That scares me. Its so hard because I also said I thought William Beneson was great and someone else had a bad experience. It such a tough decision to make because sometimes you just never know. Glad to hear that you got him out of there.

My grandmother was in Ozanam for several years with no problems. Granted, she died in the early 1990s, so I have no more up to date experience than that.

OMG. I'm so sorry. My grandfather was there for months and we never had any problems. On the contrary, they were great. Sorry your grandparents had a bad experience there.

Re: Can anyone recommend a nursing home in Queens?
Ozanam is awesome. DH"s grandmother has been there for a number of years and everyone there is the best. It's clean, neat and they really take good care of their patients there.
However, I know it's very hard to get into to.

Re: Can anyone recommend a nursing home in Queens?
Benenson Nursing Home/Rehab Facility in flushing. My grandmother was there for 8 months before she passed away and they were AMAZING! They treated her great and the nurses and staff were great to. She originally was in Ozamen(sp?) in Bayside for rehab but long story short, the "kicked" her out after she was finished and claimed she didn't need skilled nursing care...but Benenson was so great with her and our family! Good Luck!!!

My grandmother and aunt were both in Union Plaza at Union Street in Flushing...it was fairly new and very clean. DH's grandmother is in Silvercrest and I know his family is pretty happy with it too.
