Dh and I used Home Depot. The kitchen design dept was able to give us a lot of estimates. The branch in Elmont was very helpful.

our friends also used Home Depot, but it was really more for cabinet lay out. They were very happy with them.

Re: Can anyone recommend a place that helps with kitchen redesign?
My FIL is a professional kitchen designer. He is semi-retired and has closed his storefront but is still very busy, for years now. from word of mouth alone.
A few people from the site have used him. One poster said he was the only designer who came up with more than one stock idea for the kitchen and the only one who would do want she really wanted to do. All of the more well know firms just wanted to so a generic design.
FM me if you want his info.
ETA: I see you want walls moved etc.. Please be careful and go with a designer. A lot of the chain stores employ sales people to sell their cabinets. They really know nothing about structural and architectural changes. They sell cabinets, they do not design kitchens. You need someone with experience moving plumbing, electrical AND cabinet design. This is beyond a simple ripout and replace in the same layout.

An architect may even be able to help you with moving walls to add square footage. We know of a great architect if you are interested!
