Can anyone recommend someone for driveway/brick/paver work?
Among a zillion other things, I need the front walkway and front steps to my house done along with the driveway - and eventually a backyard patio - I'd like to begin to get quotes so I have some idea of what I'm 'in' for !!
TIA !!
If you have any pics and wouldn't mind sharing the quotes you were given, that would be much appreciated too !!
(I'm in Massapequa)

Re: Can anyone recommend someone for driveway/brick/paver work?
We used S. Warren Paving and we were SO happy with them. We had a concrete one car driveway and a yucky broken up concrete walk/stoop. They widened the driveway into a 2 car blacktop driveway extending up the side of the house and did a paving stone walkway/porch up to the front door. It is so beautiful!! I'd post pictures but I still don't know how.

We used R&R last summer for cement, pavers and limestone...they did a great job and had great ideas to help us:
Before
During
Somewhat After (still have more work we want to do)

Re: Can anyone recommend someone for driveway/brick/paver work?
I am glad this is being brought up. My driveway and lawn are my two primary projects to tackle this year.
I am debating what I should lay down for my driveway. Concrete? Pavers? Blacktop/Asphalt.
Can somebody give the pros/cons of each?
I would normally just go blacktop, but I am scared of it cracking over time, sealing, etc. Do you have to do this kind of maintenance with Pavers? It seems like Pavers would last longer over time?
What about the winter when you have to shovel? Is it difficult to shovel over pavers compared to blacktop?
Thanks in advance.

I would say it depends on how many trees you have around your driveway. If you have a lot of tree roots, asphalt and concrete can crack, but the pavers will pop up. It might be easier to cut a root and pop the paver back in place than deal with roots pushing up under the concrete or asphalt.
Asphalt (blacktop) is less likely to crack than concrete in general, but if you have a decent contractor you should get a decent life span from either. If you get concrete or pavers (which are made from concrete) do not use rock salt on them in the winter, it causes the concrete to degrade and the top layer could start peeling off.
I would say look at your budget first. Pavers can be a lot more expensive than the other 2 options. I would also get several price quotes before choosing someone. Even reputable contractors can have a wide range of prices depending on the season and how busy they are.

My husband does this kind of work. A lot of his work has actually been featured on some HGTV shows. PM me if you are interested in the specifics about his company.

Re: Can anyone recommend someone for driveway/brick/paver work?
We used Fasco last April.
Love my driveway. We extended our driveway from 1 car wide to 2 car wide and extended along side our garage, we also added a brick apron and brick along side and they have do deal with some sloping issues and it came out great!

Same here! And after we used Fasco a bunch of our neighbors used them and all the jobs came out beautifully. I would definitely use them again.
