Can anyone suggest a gift for a friend who's moving out-of-state?
She's one of my oldest and dearest friends...
and a bunch of us girls are taking her out for dinner/drinks next week.
I think I should get her something besides a card....any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

a photo in a nice frame - either the 2 of you, or something you like to do together (Ionce gave a friend a b&w photo i took of Shea Stadium with the skyline cut into the grass)
a BB&B gc - she'll probably need stuff if she's moving
something cutsie the 2 of you have shared....maybe a jar of sand from a beach you go to together? a little shadow box with a photo of you 2 and a napkin from your favorite place to eat and chat..etc.

I would agree with this. When I moved state to state, I was looking to get rid of stuff, not pack more.
I'd probably stick with a small framed photo and a gift card. If ther person is driving, maybe a box of snacks and drinks for the road?

is she moving somewhere north or south? then you could do something that fits in with the climate where she is going.
Or something that has to do with the state that she is mving to.
This is so from the movie the American President, but you could send the state flower to their house once they get there.

Do some research to find the best sotre that they have where she is moving by not here.. like Wegman's, Publix, Cracker Barrell, and get her a GC to that so she can try something new to get acclaimated to her new life

My bff moved a couple of months ago and a few of us got her a silver necklace from Tiffany and had "LI for Life" engraved on the back. The LI stood for Long Island.

some things DH and I got were:
Writing Paper w/stamps
A "goodie" bag for the drive down- Magazines, snacks, water, a Book on the state we were moving to
the book, 1000 places to see before you die and then my friend highlighted the area we were moving to ... Loved this for the ride down!
One of those angels that you put in your car-that says like protect me while I am driving or something like that...We had a long drive, it was very thoughtful

I've researched local restaurants & arranged for a gift card to a good one.
Last thing you want to do after you unpack is cook dinner. Well, it's the last thing I always want to do...but it's still a good idea.
