Can DS choke on his gloves?
Okay, I'm on neurotic thought #1057 as a mommy. DS gets such cold hands that we have always had those no scratch mittens on him. Now that he's 12 weeks he enjoys chewing on anything that he can get to his mouth and can be quite strong. Can he pull the mitten right off and choke on it? When does the worrying end?

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
Ok, logically, isn't the glove quite big? He would have to have a pretty big mouth to shove the whole thing inside and get it down his throat to choke on it, right?
Just wait til he gets a little bigger and you won't believe what they want to put in their mouths.

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
Well, he's not a thumb sucker. He sucks on his entire fist. The gloves aren't much bigger than his fist.

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
Anything is possible. But I don't think it's likely he will choke on his mitten

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
I totally understand how you worry, im the same. My dd is 7wks and puts her no scratch mitten in her mouth all the time. I just keep an eye on when wearing and i dont put her to sleep in them. I have her sleep in the onesies with the mittens built in

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
Get ones that attach together through the sleeves of the jacket......you know the ones that are attached with a string....

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
i think you are talking about these mittens
if so, while I think it is possible he could stuff the whole thing in his mouth, I don't think it is 'likely' he would choke on it. Possible? yes...
Why take the chance though?
personally I never used them (for scratches or warmth), babies hands are often cold, its ok, I think it bothers us more. His hands are probably colder wearing a slobered up mitten

Re: Can DS choke on his gloves?
I always liked the long sleeves with the mittens built right in. DD couldn't scratch her face or eyes (which is what the ped said was the worrisome part), and couldn't take them off or get them in her mouth. I wouldn't use anything with a string, because that could be a strangulation hazard.
