can i be using too many flashcards?

my ds is almost 1 and he LOVES flashcards. we've been doing them since he was 6 months and i've just kept increasing the amount i use and continuing using the old ones too. we do them while he's eating to keep him occupied b/c he hates eating.

anyway, we use 5 different packs of cards a day, maybe 100+ cards (animals, food,shapes, cars, toys, etc.)

could i be over loading him at his age or do you think it's ok to do so many?

I used to think I was using too many just doing letters and numbers but then she really liked them so I continued. Now.. she has them pretty much memorized by anticipating what comes next and sounding things out.
I don't think you are overloading.. their minds are like sponges and they are so inquisitive. It is beneficial and they absorb everything.

I am looking for new cards..what types are you using?

If he likes them then def. keep using them.. I used them with my 3...these are Addison's favorite now.. she knows all the animal noises with it.. soooo cute!touch n feel cards

i'm a teacher so i had a bunch of old packs that i used to use (not sure what brand they are.) but i recently got "baby einstein language discovery cards" and "brainy baby ABC's" & brainy baby shapes/colors".

i've gotten them at bbb and bru but the ones i think i like the best i got at walgreens. they also have a ton online.

i also make my own cards if i don't think the word is important for my ds (i.e. "J" had a picture or "jelly beans" on them. i changed it by putting a pic of my ds "josh" on it and wrote his name instead.)

DC has been interested in Flash Cards since 6 months and still loves them at 2. I think it's great
