Can I get a little teary-eyed for a moment?
So, I've been home with Ava for a month now, and I just need to say that I don't know how I was blessed with this child. I really don't. How in the world did I end up with such an amazing little girl as my daughter? With all my faults and shortcomings as a person and as a mother, I've managed to help create this wonderful, energetic, vivacious, smart, musical, caring little human. With all I know about children and babies and with all the babies I've known and worked with, I never knew exactly what a one year old baby was capable of. The things she does and says amaze me every moment of the day. Singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star or Row, Row, Row Your Boat with such energy, walking over to me, putting her head on my shoulder and saying, "Awwww, mama", whenever she gets the urge or, giving me an open mouth, sloppy kiss or petting the cat and saying, "Good boy, good boy." Who knew that a baby could do those things? I had no idea that this is what it could be like. NO IDEA. I don't know how I'm going to be without her all day when I go back to work in September, but I'm going to try my hardest to make the most of the next few weeks because she is just simply amazing.
I don't know why, but I just needed to say that. I am really affected by the posts from new moms having a hard time since it touches me so deeply, and I just have to say that when I was at that point, I could not dream that I'd ever be at this point. But here we are, and it's the most amazing thing ever.

Thanks for sharing. I've been feeling the same way now that Emily's first birthday is two weeks away.

I had some similar thoughts today when I realized that Lily is 8 months old today. She amazes me everyday and she still doesn't even do all of those things Ava does. I can't wait!!!

Thank you for posting this. As a new mommy, it reminds me that it will get better and it shows all the things we have to look forward to. You are very lucky to have such a special little girl and she is equally lucky to have a mommy who realizes it.

That was really beautiful. You must be having such a wonderful summer with her. It got me thinking about all the wonderful things I have to look forward to. I too am amazed everyday by Bella's little changes. It makes me sad that I won't be with her everyday come September and I may miss something.

Thank you so much for posting this part...with a week to go until my due date I have literally been having anxiety about reading all the posts about how hard it is with a newborn to the point where some moments I feel like I've been sensing dread more than excitement which I didn't think was a good thing. I just need to keep posts like this in mind when we get home with our DS and it is our turn to adjust to a new addition.
I'm happy for you and your daughter that she is recognized as such a special person in your life!!!

Sometimes I find myself just starring at Jenna in amazement at how little she is but how much she knows and does. I totally understand where you are coming from!

Re: Can I get a little teary-eyed for a moment?
so beautifully written.. I know the feeling.. Each night I reflect on DS's actions during the day, or I share them with DH who works from 3-11pm.. and I just find myself smiling from ear to ear or laughing. He may not say much..(or anything at all for that matter) but he has such ways about him and such a personality. He hugs me so tight on my neck every night before bedtime that I cant breathe. And yet I cant get enuf. My heart just completely melts...
I also never thought I would get to these moments when I was up constantly with a screaming colicky newborn. But alas, the time has come.. and it most certainly was worth the trip...

SO sweet of you to write this and so great to know what I can look forward too. You should print it out and save for her to read someday.
ENJOY HER!

Your words are so true....and know that the level of amazement only gets greater.
Jack is 2 1/2 and looks out for his baby sister already. The other day I caught him telling Molly "Be careful Baby Sister, I don't want you to get a boo-boo."

Lily is only 6 weeks old....but she's so amazing to me already - sometimes when I'm feeding her, I just look at her, staring up at me, and I cry....(ok, I do that every day!) I can't imagine what it's going to be like as she gets older! I feel so blessed and spoiled by her already!!

That was really nice. The end of it gives so many new moms such encouragement and let me tell you that you have given so many girls here some great advice and kind words. I cant wait until Paige does all that stuff.
Thanks!!!!

I just have to say that this struck me as odd - after reading many of your posts I have to say that in your description of your daughter - it sounds like you are describing yourself.
Maybe I'm just having an emotional day, but still I am so happy that your daughter is so wonderul - and try like you said to enjoy this time with her - don't dwell on September - these baby years go so fast as it is. Have fun and enjoy!
eta: ps - thanks for writing this beautiful post about your daughter. It was really heartwarming.

Re: Can I get a little teary-eyed for a moment?
I cant wait for those moments. Taylor astounds me every day...the first smile, the first laugh, the eyes that look up at me and make people say things like "wow, she really loves you" or "she knows the sound of her mommy's voice." Sometimes, I secretly love when someone is holding her and she gets upset and wants to be comforted only by me
