Can I just say how much I love the staff at LIJ?
DH and I went through a lot in the ante partum unit at LIJ in 2005 (some of you know our story). I am amazed and blown away by the memory of the nurses and the entire staff at this hospital. Not only was I surprised that everyone remembered us when I delivered DD there in 2007 but they still are going out of their way for us:
Knowing DH might not be able to make some appointments with me especially having issues with this pregnancy, I decided to try and call the ante partum unit at LIJ where I will be seeing the perinatologist on staff. As soon as they answered the phone, I asked if I could make my appointment next week a bit earlier (never giving my name yet).
First words out of the nurses mouth was No – sorry we are just completely booked. When I inquired about possibly doing another date and time next week and explained DH’s work situation they asked my name. Upon hearing it the nurse put me on hold – came back 1 minute later and said “Hi Mrs. V. This is Nurse A and I just changed your appointment to this time on the same day so your DH can come in with you. We are so happy you are expecting another baby and can’t wait to see you both again”.
Can I tell you how floored I was? Not only did the staff make sure I had my own private room at no extra charge when DD was born, they still remember me almost 4 years later?? It truly brought tears to my eyes as I called DH to tell him this story.
For anyone delivering at LIJ – I wanted to share this story so you know the wonderful staff there.

I just delivered my first child there in December and I absolutely loved all the staff.
I wouldn't want to have a baby anywhere else.
