Can I Shoot MIL - Moving Rant
DH & I moved the bulk of our stuff out of MIL's house two weeks ago. We stuffed the u-haul to full capacity. Despite this we had to leave a bunch of stuff behind (mostly mine).
DH informed me this morning that his mother has completely cleaned out the room. When I asked where my clothes (over $5K in professional business suits) etc were, he said he had no idea.
This is a woman who doesn't even realize I took her mop a month ago and never returned it - but she somehow managed to clean out a room that had my personal belongings in it????????????
She knew that we had a toxemia scare the week we moved and the OB told me I had to stay off my feet so I couldn't go over there the weekend immediately following the one we moved AND she knew my baby shower was this past weekend so I couldn't get there then either. So why oh why did she take it upon herself to touch/move (dare I say throw away?) my stuff????????????????????
I don't even know what to do about this. DH seemed completely unconcerned and got off the phone in a hurry.
ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there Darlene!!
I think your DH needs to step in and call his Mom on your behalf and get this straighteneded out - he's your husband and his priority should be you first and foremost! Although you won't need the clothes for the next month, you will need them at the start of the new year and you deserve to know where they are and what condition they are in.

Re: Can I Shoot MIL - Moving Rant
If she wanted to move your stuff - she owed you the courtesy of a phone call to let you know "I want to begin painting/moving/remodeling - whatever........so I moved your clothes from place X to place Y"
OR, she should have called her son and told him to come over and pick up his wife's crap !!
If she dared to go through your things and throw anything away I will beat her for you !! -
I'd call her myself and ask her where she put your things, and then ask your DH go go and get them for you since you can't at the moment ! -

I have no idea, but it just hit me that the expensive Bambi character cells I bought to decorate the baby's room were in a box that was left behind in the room that DH says is completely empty.

D- I agree with Betsy 1000% Don't stress over it too much because at the end of the day when everyone goes home it won't change the world all that much. Keep your cool you have all these wonderful things in life coming down the road, this is just a pothole...

DH needs to get his booty over there NOW and find out what happened to those things!!!!!!!!!!
I'll pray that they're fine and she just moved them to another location.

I would be furious!!!!

Re: Can I Shoot MIL - Moving Rant
Well, you can shoot her, but it wouldn't be worth it.
Hopefully, she just stored your things. I really can't imagine someone would throw out your stuff without asking about it first. I hope your DH gets this straightened out. Definitely let him deal with it.

ITA - just don't sound like you're assuming she's tossed your stuff...it'll make her defensive.

Re: Can I Shoot MIL - Moving Rant
ok, lets think positive until you know what happened to your stuff....
I love DH dearly, but I've also received flaky phone calls like that in the past.... it's like his brain short circuits, and he doesn't grasp how BAD his story sounds.
50% chance he is unaware of the degree of your panic, and doesn't realize that he should be actively tearing apart his mom's place for all that stuff.
wait till he comes home, and find out exactly what happened... don't assume anything, becuase you received some very flaky info from your DH.

Re: Can I Shoot MIL - Moving Rant
Hey D, just saw this post now. I hope by now the boxes were found...maybe she put them someplace for safe keeping. I'm sure she did it w/ your best interest in mind, not malaciously. In any respect, your DH needs to get down there & find out what happened & where your stuff is.
Don't stress though.....
