can I tell a story??would you be upset by this??ANY feedback would be apprciated

so the other day the school nurse called to tell me that 5yr old DD was there and had a bump and cut on her head but she gave her ice and sent her back to class and that DD just noticed this bump now so she came in
so DD came home from school and told me she told the nurse what happened, that some boy chased her with a bat (plastic bat) hit her in the head and her head went into the metal pole on the swingset.
this little boy has has a few other incidents with other kids also.
the next day DH calls the principal (she was in a meeting)but after 4 hours of no call back he calls again and the gym teacher gets on the phone
he assures DH he will take care of this and call ME back
(we would have called this childs parents but their is a language barrier)
so the next day the gym teacher calls me back and basically tells me that they are kindergartners etc and he told them to stay away from eachother etc and he wont be allowed to play at recess for 2 days so I asked him if he called the boys parents and he said that even when you tell a parent sometimes they dont do anything anyway etc THIS BOTHERS ME ALOT!!!
so today I get a call from the gym teacher and he said I have an ironic thing to tell you....he said the music teacher told him that this boy punched my DD so I say OMG and gym teacher says oh shes fine thats not why I called we found out that your DD kicked him
so I said oh no I will speak to her. (MY DD is very timid so this was a shock)he said I just wanted you to know she isnt afraid to come to school and isnt intimidated by this boy
so I said I think its "ironic" how you will call me to tell me what my child did but you WONT call his parents and also why isnt the principal calling me back and just a gym teacher??
so I told DH and called the superintent ....just waiting for the sh*t to hit the fan now

WOW! thats horrible! The principal should have called the other parents and you to let you know how it was handled so everyone is on the same page! I am glad you called the superintendent!!!!

I really wish DH didnt call the superintendent and just would have spoken to the principal

I actually have to go to a school function tonight and both the principal and gym teacher will be there I just hope this doesnt get brought up tonight

My opinion is that they are not handling this in a professional manner. The principal should have called the other parents. I dont' think it's wrong that they called you, but they should definately have called the other parents.

AND, don't feel bad when you see them! Your husband was correct in calling the superintendent, IMO. The principal was not returning his calls, so he went to the next level. I would have done the same.

If they approach me tonight I will just say this isnt appropriate time to discuss this
call and we can have a meeting then

Also good for your daughter for defending herself.

they werent there tonight the other gym teacher was
but another mom told me her DS got pushed into the pole at recess yesterday .....where is the supervision at recess????

I might tell them that your daughter has always been timid so has not done anything like this before in your presence. So you are concerned that this is what she is learning at school from this boy and the teachers who do nothing about it.
