Can I wear this to a black tie optional wedding?
Pics in album. Wedding is black tie optional but is at 11 am on a Sunday so I dot think a long gown is appropriate but is this too casual? My husband is a groomsmen so will be in a tux. Tia! Also would a one shoulder dress be appropriate at a conservative/ modern orthodox Jewish wedding? Thanks!

Technically, I think your shoulders should be covered. I could be wrong.

Thanks! Is this the kind of thing where I can wear a shawl during the ceremony and then take it off? I honestly have no idea!
Spoke to hubby and they are conservative, not orthodox. Thanks!

IMO I think it looks a little to casual for a wedding that they're marketing as "black tie optional" - I think b/c the top is a different color than the bottom it gives the appearance of just being a skirt & blouse. I'd wear something like a simple sheath, etc.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I just didn't want to buy a new dress :/. Thanks for the feedback!

Im sorry i think thats too casual. Its not even a cocktail dress. I would def wear a very dressy cocktail dress. Blacktie optional no matter if its a sunday is dressy and your husband is a groomsman.

I think it's casual looking, as well.
I know you said you didn't want to buy a new dress, but you should check out Macy's. They have very classic styles for $100 or less. In fact, I think my last dress I got there was around $60. They had a rack of dresses that were priced that low, every day.
I went to a conservative Jewish black tie wedding and wore a long black gown, with the top similar to the dress you have on.
They gave all the ladies white pashminas to wear during the ceremony.

Def not. Looks more saturday night out with girlfriends, than black tie optional.

Thanks :) I think it is a little dressier in person but nonetheless I agree it's too casual. Dress shopping I go!

Re: Can I wear this to a black tie optional wedding?
I think it would work if it were all black .......and what's up w/ a "black tie optional' rule for a Sunday morning wedding??? IMHO I wouldn't be dressing up 'black time optional' for a Sunday morning - appropriate is one thing, but I'd never wear what I'd wear to a Friday or Saturday evening wedding on a Sunday morning .....

I would not wear it. I tend to see dresses similar to that worn for a night on the town and not for a formal event.

As others said... it's too casual. Get something a bit more dressy and remember I'm sure you'll be in lots of pics since your DH is also in the wedding. Have fun!
