Can re refridgerate a bottle?

Say you have a 2 ounce bottle and baby only drinks 1 ounce can put that bottle in the fridge and give the rest of the bottle at the next feeding?

No. The baby has already drank from the bottle so the baby's saliva got into the formula. Saliva will start breaking down the formula. Start with a fresh bottle at the next feeding. Chat Icon

Excellent point. My MIL said that she heard you could that's why I was asking.

What you said makes sense.

Actually, yes you can. I asked my Pediatrician this at our last appointment. As long as the bottle doesn't sit out for an hour, you can put it back in the fridge to use later.

Ditto! my Ped said the same thing BUT you cannot save it for days.

Oh I would imagine so.

Hmmmm - I was told the bacteria from the baby'c mouth can get in the formula. It's a tough one but I think I would just use a fresh one.

agree, it has less to do with the bottle sitting around its the saliva that gets into the bottle and breaks down the nutrients its no longer chock full as a fresh bottle and at this young age why even worry about an ounce vs a fresh bottle, I say make fresh

I have been saving what Ryan doesnt eat by putting it back in the fridge since the get-go. No problems here.. formula is expensive so I want to get every drop into him!

I agree with you! and same here. My boys never had any problems. One friend of mine said "well they just want you to run out of formula quicker so you can run out and buy some more!"
Of course this was also a concern of ours with baby#1 and its also one of those things in the "new parent rule book" that you toss after a few months Chat Icon

Re: Can re refridgerate a bottle?

I would keep the bottle around for about 2 hours and then if DD didn't take anymore I would toss it thatwas just me though
