This Sunday is Em's christening....

Can she have any of the cake? She will be 10.5 months old at this point... it's going to be vanilla cake with vanilla fondant (but i won't give her the fondant)....

DS had cake at 6 months for his 1/2 birthday. If she's on table foods, why not?

she's not. we had to go VERY slowly with her foods - at first it was ONE new food per week because of her allergies to soy..... the allergist gave us the go-ahead for one new food every 3 days now....but we're still just getting through it all!

I say go for it.

Has she had eggs yet??? That would be my only concerns since she has such food sensitivities. I wouldn't want to find out she is allergic to eggs on the day of the day of the christening because the cake was made with eggs....

Any other kid I would say, yeah, go ahead but because she has food sensitivities I'd be a little more leary...

Good point! This actually happened to my best friend's daughter, that's how they found out she was allergic to eggs was by having a reaction after trying some cake. So at her first birthday, after she blew out the candles they slipped her a bowl of ice cream since she couldn't eat her own cake. She's still allergic to eggs at 4 years old.

If she has had egg, milk based products it should be okay as long as it is plain white cake. I would also make sure they didn't use any nut products to make the cake. If she hasn't had those items I might hold off. I didn't give DD#1 cake until her 1st birthday and I plan to do the same with DD#2.
