First Birthdays...do you really let them eat the cake?
DS just started finger foods a month ago, and he has finally gotten the hang of small pieces of everything..chicken, noodles, fruits, veggies etc...
Im so nervous that if I put a piece of cake in front of him at his birthday hell put too much in his mouth....? Am i nuts?

It was the first time he had cake and we practically had to shove it down his mouth!

most likely he will scratch the icing because he will like the texture If anything he may lick his fingers a bit. But if he isn't used to grabbing and shoveling food in his mouth, he probably won't with a piece of cake.
My son basically played with the icing and cake and I fed him a few bites. It was very reserved and neat.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're worried, just take it away after a couple of "bites" (and great pics)

Someone gave it to DS on a plate and he flung it off his highchair and it landed jelly side down on the floor. He had no interest in it at all.
