Can someone please explain this new trend on the red carpet...
Why do they think it's attractive to stand cross-legged on the red carpet?! Do they have to pee??? I just don't get it! Anyone else??

it's the angle of your body. it is probably more slimming, especially in the hip area.
it's probably very helpful on days when you've slipped up and ate something. anything to appear smaller.

I've heard that... but they just look kinda stupid... like they have get to the restroom... I'll admit, there are some celebs who can pull this "stance" off and make it look like they're crossing their legs in an attempt to walk away, but these ladies are really NOT achieving that look.

Also aren't they actually walking down the carpet and then they stop as the photogs yell out their names, so they would be in that position a lot of the time.

Sara Michelle looks like she's walking... the rest not so much. But my cousin once told me to never EVER stand with my feet together for a photo (she modeled) and instead have one foot in front. I think it really does make for a better photo.

I think they're doing it wrong!
Some really do like they have to pee, or someone said " cross your legs" and they jumped into postion. *(especially the Hills girls)
I think you're supposed to turn your hips a litle ,too like the last picture.

This is correct. When i was younger I kind of did pageant stuff and you are never suppose to stand with your legs together But in the pageant world it is not this extreme. Watch a pageant and watch how the woman take their stance. The heal of your right foot is to be placed into the arch of your left foot.

I totally agree. That & never lean your arm against your side.

Re: Can someone please explain this new trend on the red carpet...
It may also be the lesser of many evils...
Standing with your legs straight side by side kinda makes you look nerdy and awkward
Standing with your legs slightly apart makes you look unapproachable (like you're on the offensive) or in some cases, too accessible!

This is true for dancers too, it's a comfortable "rest" position.

Celebrities will do anything someone tells them is 'the' thing to be doing.
