Can someone post the article from Newsday about the crash in Mastic?
We saw it/heard it this morning and I knew it was not going to be good. I can only see a small fraction of the article.
Prayers to the family

Re: Can someone post the article from Newsday about the crash in Mastic?
So sad, but here it is;
Treacherous black ice is being blamed for a handful of early-morning crashes Monday, including one deadly accident in Mastic, Suffolk County emergency responders said.
The three most-serious black ice crashes occurred in Ronkonkoma, Mastic and East Patchogue, Suffolk police said.
South Country Ambulance chief Gregory C. Miglino Jr. said the victim in the Mastic crash, which closed Mastic Road at Herkimer Street in Mastic at 6:45 a.m., was scheduled to be airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center - but lost vital signs and was transported by Mastic Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was identified only as the driver of a box truck involved in a crash with two school buses. Neither of the school buses had students on board, police said.
Officials also said there was an early-morning head-on crash on South Country Road in East Patchogue attributed to black ice and one that closed westbound Veterans Memorial Highway at Fifth Avenue in Ronkonkoma at 6:18 a.m.
Details were not immediately available on the Ronkonkoma crash, but police said at least one person had been transported by medevac helicopter to Stony Brook. Miglino said that one victim in the East Patchogue crash suffered facial lacerations and a bone fracture, while a second victim complained of neck and back pain.
Police said black ice conditions - that is, ice that is all but invisible to drivers - has led to a large number of "fender bender"-type accidents, though an exact number was not available early Monday.
Most of those accidents appeared confined to Suffolk County, authorities said.
Nassau County police said they did not have reports of ice-related crashes Monday.

Ooohh, I'm so sad :( How terrible. My little girl was so upset when it happened. She kept saying we should leave flowers at the site because it will make the person feel better (she sees the roadside memorials and thinks it's to make people feel better). Awhh man

So sad!!
Black is sooo dangerous! My brother is a "black ice" victim. He was in a coma for months and suffered a TBI from it. No matter how slow you are driving, once you hit black ice it is very hard to gain back control of the car.

Exactly why I hate winter. Everyone can clamor how PRETTY the snow is etc but snow and black ice cause more accidents plain and simple.
IMO you can keep the snow, the ice, etc.
What a shame!
