Can someone tell me how much weight....
you are supposed to gain each week/trimester?
I really havent gained any weight (although I am sure I will now that i have stopped exercising rigorously), but my stomach already seems so large.... It's like my weight is redistributing to my belly. I am only 6 weeks!!!!
anyway - I can find a million things telling me that i will gain for the duration of the pregnancy but nothing telling me week by week. does anyone have this?

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
i dont think its set in stone anywhere how much you gain per week... some people gain nothing their first trimester (weeks 1-13) others gain more... The average recommended is 25-35lbs with the bulk being gained during your 2nd and 3rd trimesters. You're prob bloated

What you are saying sounds pretty common. There are some guidelines but it seems like it happens so differently for everyone.

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
I know this is TMI, but my belly was bloated at 6 weeks too, b/c i wasn't going to the bathroom #2.
once i went a few times, the swelling went down.
try fiber, that may help relieve the bloat. ps - i'm at 13 weeks and i've gained about 3 lbs. my dr is not concerned.

its very common esp. early on. drink ALOT of water and yes avoid salty foods helps. you should not cut carbs, your making a baby you need the good carbs. You can avoid the white flour/sugar etc.. its just part of pregnancy. I still get bloated

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
Yeah, everyone is different. I was definitely bloated and my belly looked bigger from week 7 to like week 13, yet I hadn't gained any weight yet. I started gaining in the second tri and at 21 weeks I'm now up 10lbs. I hear the biggest weight gain is 26-30 weeks, so we'll see!

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
Well the books say 30 lbs total and after the 20 week mark or so isnt it a pound a week? So thats about 10 lbs per trimester I guess.
Seems awful strict to me.

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
yeah...I didn't gain any weight until 17 weeks and since then I've put on 32 pounds....
A woman who was average-weight before pregnancy should gain between 25-40 lbs total (this is what my Dr. told me), so I don't have that much left to work with.

I agree. I think so long as you are eating the right foods and your baby is developing normally, you shouldn't worry about weight.
for someone my weight, 100 pre-pg, books say i should gain 48 lbs.?? are they nuts?
the rules are bizarre when it comes to weight gain.

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
I was told the avg was 2-5 lbs in the first trimester and then after that a pound a week, so four lbs every month. that said - i haven't fit this to a t - one month I gain more, next less - its all relative anyway since everyone is different. I think as long as you are being healthy you are gaining what your body and baby need so it can't be too much

I have found this to be true with both of my pregnancies. I gained the most between 24-28 weeks (I am 26 weeks right now ) I am scared to hit the scales in a few weeks!!!

Re: Can someone tell me how much weight....
Try bran cereal and prunes--seems to be helping me!
I think my stomach started to get puffy around 7 weeks. Just there, nowhere else really. Now I'm 11 weeks, and I think the prunes and cereal have made it a little smaller, but it's still poked out a bit. My doctor said it's bloat, and this happens to a lot of people. She said I should drink water and avoid salty stuff, but even with that, I'm still bloated. I'm just used to it now, but at first it was disturbing.
I've gained 5 lbs. so far. I think this is mainly due to my relative lack of exercise so far (too tired) and nausea (I'm eating more breads and fruit than normal--vegetables and meat turn my stomach).
