Can the OPKs stop working on you? (a little long) CHART ADDED
I have been using the CBE digital ovulation tests for several months and I usually get the positive 1-2 days before fertility friend confirms my ovulation (depends if I get the positive in the morning or afternoon).
This month I had TONS of EWCM for two days but got negative OPKS both days (and I test twice a day and don't drink anything and hold my urine for 4 hrs etc. etc.). On the second day I decided to test again at 9 pm (tested that day at noon and 5 pm, both negative) and I got a positive. So we BD that night then the following two nights.
Today fertility friend said that I ovluated on the day that I got the positive OPK at 9pm. Is that possible? So which is right? Do OPKs just suddenly not work as well for you after a while?
Thanks for reading

i would always go with the OPKs over fertility friend. fertility friend just goes by temping and CM, OPKs detect your LH surge, so IMO, they are more accurate. it's possible you O'd the next day.

I always thought temping was supposed to be the most accurate, but I don't really know. In either case you should be covered since the swimmers live for a couple of days.

Re: Can the OPKs stop working on you? (a little long) CHART ADDED
It's always safest to BD whenever you see EWCM - especially if there's lots of it - regardless of whatever any tests say. There are problems with relying on both OPK's and temping. OPKs detect a surge in lutenizing hormone - the hormone is always present in your urine, but it peaks just before your ovaries release an egg. But just because you got a positive OPK doesn't mean you actually ovulated. Your body can show all the signs of gearing up to ovulate and then decide not to for whatever reason (including illness, stress, etc). Temping requires lots of discipline on your part - ie waking up at the same time and under the same conditions every morning, etc - and can also be affected by illness. On top of that, you could be a "late riser" which means your temperature shift doens't show up until a few days after you've actually ovulated.
I think temping - if done correctly - is the best way to confirm when you've ovulated. But the problem is, you can't tell you've ovulated until AFTER you've actually ovulated. No method is fool proof, but if you BD when you see EWCM, you're on the right track. Good luck!

Temping and blood test are the only way to confirm ovulation, OPKs show a surge but do not confirm that you ovulated. You can have a surge without ovulating, and OPKs do not work on everyone.
I would go by fertility friend and your CM, it is more accurate than the OPKs.
Also, looking at your chart it looks like you did in fact ovulate.

I completely agree with this.
