can we talk about cupcakes.
For my Daughters Bday I want to get some kick @ss cupcakes instead of a traditional cake - can anyone recommend a place anywhere on the Island or in the city.

Magnolia is the bomb-- but easier on the east side for you to get to is the Buttercup Cupcake Cafe-- the pasty chef there used to work at Magnolia.. a straight shot over the 59th street bridge-- they are on like 51st and 2nd..
Can't believe she's turning 1!!!!!!!

I used someone from Queens for our wedding cupcakes...and she did our cake and grooms cake, Kara G used her as well. FM me if you would like her info. Buttercup Bakery is right around the corner from my office!! YUMMY!

Cup Cake Factory (i think that is their name)- City
only drawback is they don't deliver but their cupcakes are worth it!

There is also Billy's on 9th in Chelsea - I think some people from Cupcake Cafe left and started this shop. I thoght the red velvet was really good!

I've never had the magnolia cupcakes, but I really don't like Buttercup's cupcakes-way too sweet for me. However, Sugar Sweet Sunshine (lower east side)-owners also used to work at Magnolia-has amazing cupcakes, some of the best I've ever had. The chocolate cake cupcakes are sooo good.
