can we talk about high blood pressure?
I had my 34 week appt last night. Throughout the entire pregnancy my BP has been fine- not so much last night. Is it "normal" for your BP to get higher towards the end of your pregnancy? Now I am paranoid and have all these "what-if's" running though my head.

Re: can we talk about high blood pressure?
I'm a high blood pressure sufferer even before getting pregnant. The Dr. warned me that as I got closer to my due date they'd have to monitor me more carefully and that they would not let me go past my due date. Blood pressure does increae the closer you get to your due date for some, even if you've been fine the entire time.
Just try to relax and not stress that will only drive your bp up.

Re: can we talk about high blood pressure?
My blood pressure was always on the low side. once I passed the 30-32 week mark it slowly got higher. If your dr's concerned they will just monitor. Try not to stress out over it as that will make it go higher

What happened after you had a high BP reading? Is your doctor doing any other type of testing?
If this is the first time you had a high BP reading, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Try not to stress out.

Re: can we talk about high blood pressure?
This happened to me last night. I went in and my heart started racing from me taking my ugg boots off then climbing on the table, Its hard moving around when your belly is in the way.The nurse was concerned and had me take deep breaths to calm my heartbeats. I feel like this when I strain too much. But the doctor had me lay on my left side for 10 minutes and relax and it went back down to normal. Now I am scared, because I know this happens to me all the time. Especially when I walk up the stairs at work...I hope on Monday It dont happen again.

Re: can we talk about high blood pressure?
My BP would go up and down during my entire pregnancy.....the doctor looked at it more closely at the the end, especially when i had protein in my urine...because i could have gotten preeclampsia. The day i went into labor my blood pressure was high and then it wouldn't go down after giving birth, it actually went up so unfortunately they put me on Magnesium...no fun! It made me feel the following day in the hospital. Just be careful what you eat, get plenty of rest and just make sure your doctor is watching it.
