Can we talk earrings?
So DD is 8 and has had her ears pierced for a year and a half now and all she does is lose earrings, break earrings etc.
I only buy 14k gold too because I am concerned about her wearing cheap earrings and getting irritated etc. So it's costing me a fortune with all these earrings biting the dust.
She had a pair that kind of hung like this(not these, but this style) and she lost them not once but twice (we found it the first time, the second time, it's gone forever)
So I figured, maybe those aren't the best.
We got her gold hoops for Christmas. (small ones) They kept opening too but she would catch it and close it. Then this morning she wakes up and shows DH that the earring broke- right in her ear while sleeping I guess, the gold kind of snapped on the part that goes through the ear hole.
I am guess studs are the best option but she has lost a pair of studs as well due to the backings coming out.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I be looking for certain types of earrings or backings?
What gives? (I don't wear earrings- never have- so I am clueless with this!)

I can only use screw backs with my daughter because she was constantly losing earings also.

OK I am going to have to look for earrings with screw backs I guess. It's maddening!

I think the clear rubber bullet backs hold the best. I usually replace the regular gold backs with them bc they're not that reliable. Honestly, I've used the tip of a pencil eraser in a pinch!

My daughter lost a pair of huggie earrings so at this point we only wear studs. I buy the piercing earrings on eBay and you can get all colors for cheap. They rarely open and if they should it’s cheap to replace.

So look for the ones they use to pierce their ears? Those stay on best?

My daughter is 3 and we have a lot of luck with these. They have a tight back. This is the seller I bought from and the item I bought.

Thank you! Because you know she also lost the earrings she got pierced with too! Not that they fell out, she just "misplaced" them in her room when they weren't even in her ears.

Yes, I buy these at Walmart in a huge pack! They work well!
and a lot of her earrings are from Kohl's in the jewelry case! They have a lot of cute stuff!

Re: Can we talk earrings?
We use screw back ones as well. You do need to check the tightness every few weeks or so, but overall these work the best for us.

Re: Can we talk earrings?
I don’t think she should sleep with the hoops because it wears out the earring.
I was going to suggest screw backs or the ones I have that you press the ends to put it through the back of the earring. They work wonders. You can only take the backs on & off when you press the two ends. I have then for my studs.
ETA: These since I couldn’t figure out how to describe them.

We use the silicone earring backs in addition to the earring back to keep it in place. Got a box of 300 on amazon.

I always lose earrings myself - they fall out all the time. I just bought a pack of clear rubber earring stoppers from Amazon and I haven't lost one since!

Re: Can we talk earrings?
Studex earrings They are used as "piercing" earrings. You can buy them at Sally Beauty Supply. They have them in all colors, shapes, etc. My daughter has been wearing this brand since 3 months old and has never lost an earring!
You can also buy them on ebay. Be careful though and only buy them in USA. I bought a huge lot of earrings for really cheap. I can look for the seller information if you are interested.

This says they only fit medical plastic earrings.
My DD has piercing studs and hook earrings similar to the pair OP posted. I wonder if these will work on both of those types.

Wait I thought these were full earrings. Are you looking at just backings on this site too?

Yes - I was looking at the backings as well as earrings. I wanted something to secure the studs and hook earrings she currently has.

Re: Can we talk earrings?
My 1 year old had her ears pierced twice because the earrings kept falling off. She never touched her ears either! One earring fell out again and it closed within a day. I’m not repiercing it again for the 3rd time any time soon. So annoying.

Thanks for posting this! I ended up buying her a pair for Valentine's Day and it was so affordable and she loves them. And she said they are so comfortable and don't bother her ears at all. And the best part, so far they have stayed in and the backings are still tight. So I think these might be a winner. I hated having to buy 14K gold for her to just lose them. These are so much cheaper that if she did lose them I wouldn't mind as much and they don't irritate her ears at all.
