Can you paint over stained wood trim and windows?
Getting ready to paint our MBR and right now the trim around the windows and the windows themselves are a natural wood. All of our furniture is dark so it just doesn't go. I would love to paint them white, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Do I need to sand or strip the wood first? It has a shiny finish on it. How do I paint the windows without the paint making the windows stick? TIA!

Yep.....prime with a shellac based primer. Zinser makes one, it is called BIN. (no sanding is required when you use this primer). Depending how deep the stain is you may want to do two coats. Then use a semi gloss high quality paint...Benjamin Moore is the way to go on that one for a good quality wood/ metal enamel paint (you will need 2 coats for best coverage).
I have painted dark stained windows and doors in this way and have had great success.

I wish I knew about that primer! I just used regular primer and 1 year later, I have to redo it!!
