Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
We haven't eaten out yet with DS. Could you recommend some of your favorite restaurants that are baby friendly? (Manhattan, Long Island, or CT)

Chain places are good if you go early - or for lunch - like apple bees.
Friendly's
Depending on DC age - start at McD's.
I think its important to take them out to restaurants at an early age so they learn how you expect them to behave.
Take them out for a short meal and work up to the 8 course meals.
Bring a quiet toy to play with while you wait for the food
Also, a friend of mine asks the waiter to bring the kids food out with her food so they can all eat together - or else the kids will have nothing to do while you are eating and get bored --- and that means trouble.

Re: Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
I've gone all over to many different restaurants with DS (he's 3 months)
my recommendation is to go during off hours, this way the restaurant isn't so crowded and its much easier for you to just have the stroller at your table
have fun!

we take DS to any place we go. He is great, most times he sleeps. Im not big on only going to kid places. He needs to learn how to behave in public places and listen. Im not raising a child to be a terror in a rest or in public. Rules are in place from now. JMO

ITA. DS has been in restaurants since he was like 2 weeks old and he is a dream.
I realize that this may change, but we've been doing pretty well for the past two years

ITA... right now we stick to "noisy" places.. the local diner, deli, etc... We really haven't had that much of an opportunity to really go out since she is getting up from a nap at dinnertime and needs to be fed. Her bathtime is usually aobut an hour later then bed. So, going out to dinner hasn't really been an option for a while.
We did just go out out to lunch today though and except for a blowout diaper which upset her, as soon as I changed her, she was just fine.

Re: Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
DH hates chain restaurants so our kids have mainly eaten in regular restaurants unless a grandmother is around.
We found family friendly places in our area are: The Cooke's In (Huntington) Skippers (Northport, but not a fan) Sushi Park (E. Northport) Precious (E. Northport) Emilios (E. Northport/Commack) - pizza place but has good dinners too Ciao Baby (Commack) Show Win (Northport) Mediterranean Snack Bar (Huntington) Baja Grill (E. Northport) LA Villini Italian Restaurant (E. Northport)
In the city, it usually depends on where we are staying. They've been to everywhere from Plataforma Churrascuria to Marc Joseph's Steakhouse. I wouldn't suggest the steakhouse at prime hours though. In fact, when we first called we & mentioned 4 adults, 4 kids we were told they had no openings. Then we called the person we know there & told him we wanted to come & bring the kids - the reservation was wide open.
I would suggest if you are going out with kids that won't sit still that you opt for an early dinner rather than prime time (8-10pm)

Re: Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
One of our favorite places to eat is our local pizza joint- (mike's in amityville)- they have a room in the back that is usually empty and the staff there is so friendly- their food is great and inexpensive.
We also go to the diner, Southside in Lindenhurst, Rebecca's in Amityville for breakfast/lunch on the weekends, Liki Sushi or Roppongi Sushi both in Amityville- they both have super sweet staffs and love DD as we go there a lot.
Honestly- if you just find a local place that you love, and go out on the earlier side (or try lunch, when your DC will probably not "act up" as much)- your local restaurant will embrace you- at least that has been our experience w/ all our local haunts.

We take DS anywhere that isn't formal/adults only/very expensive. Especially when he was an infant. Now, it is a bit more difficult at 20 months but we don't really go to any chain or your typical TGIF types of places.

Re: Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
We usually stick with the "chain restaurants"....Heck, On Valentines Day we ended up at Chilis and it was FILLED with families. DS likes to be ummmm vocal, so, we go "off hours" (especially on the weekend) and we bring him HUNGRY...LOL
When he was younger, we could go anywhere, as long as I had a bottle with me.

I know in the city, Elmo on 8th Ave and 19th St is stroller friendly. If it's still there...

Re: Can you recommend your favorite baby friendly restaurants?
Your baby is so young-feed him put him in his seat and he should fall asleep in the car-bring hm in in his infant seat and go anywhere you want. We've taken both of ours to Ruths Chris!

I just have to chime in here and say that as much as this philosophy is great and all, doesn't mean it will work for all kids. We TRIED to take my DD out "from day 1" to get her used to it, but she was just NEVER good in restaurants (there's no such thing as "behaving" when a baby is 3 months old!!).
With that said, we stick more to kid-friendly places and places with counter service like Panera.
