I know babies start solids at around 6 months. Is that when you start cereal or can you give them cereal earlier?

SOme give cereal in the bottle earlier, when the dr says it can help. Most doctors say you can try around 4 months. Even though I had a large child (Born at 11 lbs 8oz) I decided to wait. I was BF and asked the dr if I was depriving him of anything by not giving it at 4 months. She said 'No, it typically is just the parent that wants to give something different because they are bored.'
All doctors are different and all babies are different. I say discuss it with your dr. We didn't start until 6 months.
