Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
So the triplets went to Ped today and I was told I need to cut down to 5 bottles instead of the 6 they take and push the oatmeal and applesauce now but I am unsure about how much formula and cereal and stuff to give so I would really appreciate hearing what some of you Mom do. TIA

8am 6oz bottle 12 - 2 to 3 tablespoons of cerial and the rest of a 6oz bottle 4pm 6oz bottle 8pm 2 to 3 tablespoons of cerial and the rest of a 8/9oz bottle
we havent tried anything other then rice, oatmeal & barley...fruit n veggies this weekend in addition to the cerial
I say 2 to 3 tbls cause we started at to and have been added more and more we started with 8oz bottles (which turns to almost 9oz) but she wasnt finishing them except for the last feeding of the night...she leaves about 2-3oz we change her and get her ready for bed then she'll finish it bedtime is normally 9:30ish
we dont go back to dr for 3 more weeks (her 6 month check up)

Re: Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
I'm no help because we tried oatmeal for a week at 4 months and she didn't seem to be loving it. Feedings were becoming stressful (with one... I couldn't imagine three!!) so I stopped for awhile hoping she'd do a little better at 5 months.. She will be 5 months tomorrow (yay!) So I guess its time to attempt cereal again, not sure what the best time of day is to do it though. Our bottles are on a pretty consistent routine though 8am 12pm 4pm 8pm (sometimes I'll do this one as early as 7:15 if she missed a nap and is really tired)

I put 8oz in each bottle and she usually ends up taking anywhere from 6-8 (most bottles she takes 7oz though)

Re: Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
hey paula~ abbys been eating solids for a long timenow. we started a week or 2 before her 4month apt.
abby will be 6months on sunday but we have pretty much the same schedule as we did at 5 months. sohere it is
6am- 6oz bottle 8am- 3-4 tablespoons of oatmeal and a jar of fruit (2-4oz depending on how hungry she is.. she will open her mouth and scream if she wants more ) 1030am- 4oz bottle 1pm - 2-3 tablespoons of cereal (we usually use oatmeal b.c she likes it better but i do sneak in rice here and there) and fruit or veggie and she takes a 4oz bottle after shes done. 3pm - 4oz bottle 6pm- dinner. 4tablespoons of cereal and a jar of veggie. if she fusses for more i will give a little apples as a treat but just a little because fruit at night bothers her reflux. 7pm 6oz bottle
the GI doc said by now she should be getting used to a 3 meal a day schedule with a bottle at eat meal. (i give her a little time to settle between) with one in the early am (sometimes) and one before bed

Re: Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
7am - 8 oz bottle. Sometimes he only takes 6 oz though, and I use the rest to mix in with 1 tbsp of oatmeal. Then I mix in some applesauce or pears. He will take that usually about 15 min after he finishes the bottle.
10am - 8 oz bottle
1 pm - 8 oz bottle
4 pm - 8 oz bottle
6pm - jar of veggies (he loves green beans and sweet potatoes! Hated peas).
7-730pm - 8 oz bottle but sometimes will only take 4-6 oz.

Re: Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
Ideally this is my feeding schedule altough my DD#2 has her own idea. She's been sleeping through a lot of the cereal feedings and the doctor said not to wake her for those until after she's 6m. With that said he also said to do fruit 2x's a day and veggie 1x. This should be the schedule:
8am - 7oz bottle of formula 10am - cereal mixed with fruit 12pm - 7 oz bottle 2pm - cereal with fruit 4pm - 7 oz bottle 6pm - veggie 8pm - 7 oz bottle.
Because we are struggling with the foods, I'm thinking of having DH lower the amount of formula he pours to about 6-6.5 oz. Doctor does feel formula is more important till 6m.

Re: Can you share your 5month old feeding schedule
9:15am 7oz bottle and 3tbs cereal/.5 container of fruit or veggies
1pm 7oz bottle
5pm 7oz bottle
8pm 7oz bottle and 3tbs cereal/.5 container of fruits veggies
10pm (he's usually asleep for this) few ounces of a bottle - usually 5 or so
I'm considering adding a cereal/fruit meal in the middle of the day bc he enjoys it so much. Since he's been eating food, he's getting more and more frustrated with the bottle. I'm going to buy level 3 nipples tomorrow and see if that makes a difference (he's been using level 2s since he's 3 weeks old).
We've tried cutting out that 10pm feed, but then he wakes up at 5am STARVING, so it's more convenient for us to do the feed at 10pm when we're still awake, not 5am, before we both have to be up for work.
DS was a HUGE HUGE HUGE eater for a couple of months - nearly 45-50oz per day. He really leveled off once we started food.
