I would take down the blinds and put up floor length drapes.

Well....I finally got LR window treatments and they made them incorrectly!!Chat Icon Chat Icon It's the same thing as below except the valance is supposed to be mounted on a pole, not board mounted like the pic. I should have the new ones in about 2 weeks or so.

The panels are also squished to the side. This was right when the guy installed them.
And then took it down.

ETA: I would definitely do floor length panels in the DR. You have a bunch of options in the LR. Love your lamp BTW.

pics in albuim... right now, all we have are roman shades, but i am planning on putting up wood cornices and drapery panels underneath them, b/c the roman shades are a tad small for the window opening.

i'll hopefully have pics up in a few weeks and post again!

I love the JC Penny cordless blinds. They had to be custom ordered and I did it for the 3 sections in the bay window but they look a lot better in person and that was a bad pic too!

a little tricky since the LR windows are recessed and there really isn't any room on either side of the DR window for finials. i agree that panels would be best. for added privacy you can also use sheers or blinds.

yep I agree with the PP's- definitely a floor panel with a strong color to contrast the walls.

The walls are being redone so they won't be white and won't have that crap all over them...Do I have room for a valance???

Yes, you will have room for a valance. It's adjustable so it doesn't have to all the way to the end of the wall like the one in your picture. I would do floor length drapes on a valance. Depending on the color you're painting your room, I would have a hint of that color in your drapes.

in re: to the LR, it looks like the valance might have to be boarded to the window molding. although feasible, there is very little room for a rod. would have to pretty much be flush with the window width.

not sure why the DR treatments extend the full wall length. looks too cramped. panels and/or a valance will definitely fit but i would extend only a few inches from either side of the window molding and not the full length of the wall.
