Can you use a Blackberry Bold as a WiFi hot spot? How would I find out?
The iPad thread has me wondering - how can I find out if I can use my Blackberry Bold as a Wifi hotspot for wireless devices?

If it is possible, chances are you have to pay an extra monthly recurring charge through your wireless provider. I would call your carrier because if it does have the capability, you will have to pay for it.

Services Status Set Up Wi-Fi Network Set Up Bluetooth
Mobile Network Options Wi-Fi Options

I have the Everything Data plan from Sprint that they said covers unlimited everything except minutes. Not sure if the Wifi tethering would be included or not. Trying to avoid spending an hour on the phone with them though

I know on the phones I have worked with that have this capability, it is labeled as "hotspot". It doesn't look like your phone can do it. And like I said, you would want to contact the company first to find out what the monthly charge is to use it so that you avoid any casual usage charges.

Go to wifi options...
I have the WiFi currently off and when I go to Wifi options, it says:
Active Wi-Fi connection: None x Prompt me when manual connection or login is required _ Enable single profile scanning
Saved WiFi Profiles *Empty*
(And thanks for your help!)

The Blackberry Bold does not have wireless hotspot capabilities. That costs an extra $29.99 per month with select devices at Sprint, even if you have an unlimited plan. You can connect 5-8 wi-fi capable devices depending on what phone you have.
If you are looking to tether your phone to your iPad to use the data connection that way, I can find out for you if there is an added cost.

Ah, thank you, appreciate it!
That's exactly what I was trying to figure out (in case we got the iPad, so I wanted to know if getting just the Wi-Fi version would be sufficient). Would love to know if there's an added cost for connecting the iPad, thanks!
