Can your mucus plug come out without blood? **May be TMI**

So I just had a bowel movement and when I wiped I noticed a stretchy mucsy thing on the toilet paper. I would describe it as if you just blew your nose or EWCM. No blood in it though. Could this be my mucus plug or does there have to be blood in it? I just came back from the Dr. and Im 3CM (though that could mean absolutely nothing) TIA

I don't think there has to be blood in it.. Mine came out in pieces for a few days with DS and this pregnancy I believe it is coming out in pieces too.. And neither have had blood

Thanks! I always thought since it was referred to as a "bloody show" that there had to be blood in it. Oh boy, Im hoping this means something for me then. Chat Icon

crashing...I lost my mucus plus without blood, it sounds to me that you are going to go into labor very soon! Soon after, I started cramping, and went into labor the next day. Good luck!!

Chat Icon I sure hope so!! Does the amount of mucus matter? Or can it just be a little. I would say it was about 1/2 teaspoon

I lost my mucus plug yesterday and it had blood in it, but I immediately googled lol, and apparently you can have it without ANY blood or with some, etc.

Also, unfortunately it means nothing at all about when you'll be going into labor. You can lose it today and go into labor the next day, but you can also go into labor weeks later.

Here's to hoping labor's coming soon for you though! I'm 10 days from my due date and not dilated at all, so I don't think I'll be going into labor any time soon.
