Cancel a wedding?

I think that at this point any gatherings scheduled to take place within the next 8 weeks or so should be postponed. We had a birthday party scheduled for DD in mid-April at home that we are going to postpone. I really hope and pray that by mid-April we are starting to return back to some form of normalcy. I just feel better to be safe than sorry so IMO I would postpone.

Cancel a wedding?

One of my dc is supposed to receive confirmation on April 23, and another dc’s first communion is May 2. I am beginning to realize that it’s unlikely either will happen.

Cancel a wedding?

My Twin DD's Communion was scheduled for April 25th but there's no way that's happening. I have a friend getting married that day, and her wedding was canceled by the venue today Chat Icon

I would go. I would also pack alcohol wipes, wouldn't touch my face, wash my hands a lot, and wouldn't mingle too closely with people.

Unless it’s a large venue with a small guest list, that’s nearly impossible.

Not really. You don't need to be right in someone's face. And hand washing prevents so much illness. SO much.

Off topic, but not really, it amazes me how many people never really washed their hands before this. I'm not talking after going to the bathroom (even though I'm sure that was a big one too Chat Icon ) but I'd go out to lunch with my boss- and we'd ride the SUBWAY to get to the restaurant. The SUBWAY! And he'd sit down at lunch and start eating the bread without washing his hands or using hand sanitizer or anything. I was always so grossed out by it. And he wasn't the only one on our team who would do that.
And they'd make fun of me for my hand sanitzer that was ALWAYS with me.
Well, guess what? I'm like NEVER sick.
And they were sick a lot.
Hmmmm....

They suggest a 6 foot distance. The tables, dance floor, bar would all have people 1-2 feet away from you.

YES! I know sooooo many people like this though! SO many! Knock on wood, but we rarely get sick. And I attribute it to handwashing A LOT! Alcohol wipes, and using common sense. I get laughed at in my group of friends. I push elevator buttons with my sleeve or my elbow. I rarely touch a door handle with my hands (use my sleeve!) I cringe at people touching the subway poles! Use your arm, not your hand, people! Going forward though, hopefully everyone remembers this, becomes more sanitary and the schools are less overrun in sickness each year.

Ug, stressing out about MY wedding which is mid May. We are doing the "wait and see" still. Venue hasnt contacted us (our date is after the 8 week CDC suggestion).

We don't want to put anyone at risk and will follow the CDC recommendations. So far, we are after the CDC date....

Aren't the rules now no more than 10 people at a gathering?

I would think any venue who violates this could or would get fined?

I feel bad for any bride or groom getting married during this time. Chat Icon

My friend's uncle passed away last week; and they cant even have a funeral for him yet.

So I would thing weddings are the same?

A friends dad passed away on the 7th and he hasn't been able to do anything yet. He hasn't even been able to get his dad from the M.E. officeChat Icon

I feel awful for him and the family.

His dad wanted to be cremated so he is working on that and having a service at a later time. But everything is a challenge right now. Chat Icon

Re: Cancel a wedding?

We just canceled our wedding. I donated a kidney to my priest a few weeks ago so he and I talk daily and he feels things won’t be back to normal rules by May. He see as I’d the same, no funerals unless under 10 people. It’s so sad.

I’m disappointed but trying to keep it in perspective. We both have secure jobs and are healthy. After speaking to vendors most summer and fall dates are booked so we picked one year from our original date. Not sure if our vendors will survive this but here’s hoping!

At least I can reschedule. I wonder if seniors will still have proms and graduations.

We were invited to a wedding for the first week in May, and I wasn't sure if it would be cancelled or if they would wait & see, since it was May but we just got a postponement card. They don't have a new date yet.

Cancel a wedding?

We just got my sister’s wedding invite. Her wedding is June 13th. I hope she’s able to keep that date. There are no other T, F, Sat or Sunday spring, summer or winter dates at her venue until 2022....

my son’s bar mitzvah was to be June 6th and we’ve postponed it to next year. All of my vendors understood and were willing to work with me. I am not sending out our invites. I will wait until next year.

To update, my Goddaughter's wedding has been postponed until the middle of September. Her venue and vendors all worked with her and although she is sad about the April date, knows this was the right thing to do (not that she had a choice at this point)

My sister’s venue will not work with her until she is 8 weeks out. They will not even soft hold a 2022 date for her.

What?? I wasn’t in any rush to get married but even I would have balked at 2 years!
