Cancelling our trip to Universal Studios, updated: so frustrated with jetblue.
DH has tonsillitis so we have to cancel our trip. We were going to celebrate my 30th bday there. I'm so bummed.
We are thinking of going away for a weekend either next month or in November. Any suggestions for where to go? We would fly, and were thinking about Boston, but not sure what to do there.
ETA: Just canceled with jetblue and was charged a $100 per person cancellation fee? WTH? They said DH can fly with a mask on, that sick people fly all the time which is why so many people get sick when flying. The only way they discount or waive the fee is for the death of an immediate family member b/c it is verifiable. So frustrating.

Depending on the weather Boston may not be a good idea, since they get a lot of snow, but you never know..... Sorry about your trip

sorry to hear that but thats true with a lot of airlines... I worked in travel industry for years and unless you have a discharge form from the hospital or god forbid a death certificate of passenger or immediate family member, you are not getting a full refund... a lot of airlines more and more often have non-refundable tickets...

If you are cancelling and dont have a dr note or something then infortunately they will charge you a cancellation fee. The raised their cancellation fees......a few months ago it was a $25.00 cancellation fee.

I have never dealt with jetblue but the airlines that I work with will not accept doctor's note only discharge papers from the hospital...

I think a cancellation fee is pretty normal with airlines? People can't just cancel...you can't even change your flight with out a fee anymore..

Jet blue said they only accept death certificates, no doctors notes.

so sorry about this. That's horrible. Airlines are out of their minds for sure.
In the future, get travel insurance. You can get a policy to cover a family vacation for about $180.
