canker sore remedies PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a TERRIBLE BEYOND TERRIBLE canker sore since last Friday. It's the size of Texas and hurts SO bad! And, since I teach, I can't avoid talking, which hurts SO much!
Is there ANYTHING that will make it go away?! I have been using a mouth wash specifically for mouth sores but it does nothing!  
I rarely make posts like this, I'm just in SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much pain!!!!!

Try kosher salt directly on the sore. This works pretty well on my younger daughter, who is prone to them.

thanks, ironically before I even saw your response, I tried regular salt directly on it.
And, I'll have you know if you heard a loud SHRIEK at around 8:45, that was me screaming my head off in the bathroom That HURT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dentists will prescribe a medicine that is stronger than the stuff otc.
also i take a lysine tablet (vitamin) at least once a day, up my intake of yogurt and cut back on my intake of acidic food.

PEROXYL BY COLGATE. Its in the aisle with all the mouth rinses. basically its minty peroxide. rinse a few times a day with it.
its the ONLY thing that saved my mouth from awful cankers when i had braces.
peroxide works great too if you can tolerate it plain. the peroxyl is a minty concoction.

I get them really bad and someone recommended Durhams Canker-rid. it is the best stuff I have ever used.

Thanks, I have used peroxyl before. The last time I was at CVS, they were all out, so I bought basically the same thing only Orajel brand....
It honestly doesn't seem to be helping but I am continuing to use it anyway.
If it's not feeling better by Friday (that will eb a solid week of being in terrible pain!!) I am calling the dentist for a prescription.
