I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee...and love it! It is my 4th one! I like that it isn't too big, but still big enough for everything that we do.

Re: car
i don't have kids yet, but i LOVE, LOVE my Toyota RAV-4. i have the new one thats bigger than the older models. such a great car- very comfortable to drive ( i'm 5' tall, and DH is 6', and we're both comfortable driving it), lots of room, very good on gas for an SUV... and toyota's run forever!

Re: car
we have a chevy equinox and a ford explorer. The equinox rides more like a car but less roomy than the explorer. However, we still tend to always drive the equinox because it is my company car so the gas is free. One thing of note on the explorer...the back seat has a steep pitch to it almost to the point where the infant seat seems like it is too far forward. There is a level on the side of the seat and it just barely is where it needs to be. The guy at the inspection station gave us some tips on how to fix that issue (like shove a piece of foam in there to try and make the pitch not so steep)

Re: car
I have the Acura MDX. I love the all the extra space! ( I went from a civic to this so the space is a big change) It has a 3rd row of seats or you can fold them down for extra trunk space.

Re: car
I just got a Honda CRV. I love it!
But I will need a bigger one if we have #2. I feel it will be too small for 2 young children, stroller, toys, etc...
So I will probably consider the Honda Pilot if we have another child.
I lease mine (first time I leased!!) because of that particular reason. That was my first SUV and did not want to commit to a car that could either be good in 3 years or totally inadequate for our family.
I now know it will be too small if we increase our family.
But like I said.... it's a great small SUV and I love driving it.

Re: car
Define "good"... that's why there are so many cars available. While one person like the size of one car, another person hates it because of the size.
What features are you looking for? Warranty, size, number of seats, horsepower, extra features, price, documented reliability, styling, etc. For me, at this point in my life, an ideal "family car" for me to drive is a 4 door large pickup. I need to go to HomeDepot a lot, carry a lot of stuff in the truck, etc. Right now, I have a mid-size Dodge Dakota which is adequate, but I would like something bigger. However, most people wouldn't want something that big, and/or don't need to carry several sheets of plywood, or a ton of stones.
I find it's more efficient to narrow down your choices to a few that you think fit your requirements, then research or ask opinions on 2-5 models instead of opening it up to opinions on any model. It won't really help your decision making much.
