CAR people - what is wrong with my POS car?
I have a 2008 impala that I have had nothing but problems with from day 1. I think the "new" car was in an accident although the dealer denied it. I bought this car in February, 2008
I just noticed last week that my front 2 tires are TOTALLY bald on the outer and inner tread. What would cause "new" tires to go bald after 8 months of driving.
WWYD?

Aggressive driving, steering and alignment problems can cause your tires to wear more quickly....although I'm sure your not doing crazy NY aggressive driving in NC

bad tires.
bad alignment
take it to the dealer. How many times have to taken it to the dealer?
Also, take it to another mechanic and ask his/her opinion.

Alot of the tire pressure monitors only come on if you have a sudden large loss of air. Losing a pound over say like a few day or a week period won't register on the monitors (at least it doesn't on mine).
If you want to get a history of the damage you think may have been done to the car, try to get a car fax or go to another dealer and ask for a print out of the service history of the car. If they documented anything about it being fixed or in an accident it would show up on one of these.

I ran a car fax report and it came up clean, but I was under the impression that if the car was not registered at the time, it would not show up on car fax
originally when I bought the car, I realized the next day that the drivers side door was a different color than the rest of the car. I had to bring it in THREE times for them to fix it correctly. The GM wound up cutting me a check for $1,000 for my troubles. Now I notice this tire issue. I am planning to take it to another dealer today at lunch and see if he can give me any answers

the alignment is off
also if the car has been in an accident and the frame is not right then the alignment could be off.. that happened with one of my other cars and I was going through tires like crazy.

I def would. What did K say he thinks it is? Go to the dealer. Fight it. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY your tires should be bald after 8 months. If anything, take them to court!

Kevin thinks it was in an accident and the front end is fu*ked....if I find out that it WAS in an accident, is that a breach of contract on their end?
I want rid of this car, I hate it

Is there a way to prove this? I want to bring it to another dealer and find out what the deal is

yep, I was about to say that too.
get an alignment job done somewhere reputable and buy new tires. I had that issue, kept getting alignment jobs, and kept burning through tires for a while... I discovered the shop I was going to was not competent.... went somwhere else, and problem was solved.
I would also bring the car in for a vehichle inspection... maybe to a body shop. ask them if they could tell if it was ever in an accident.

Oh! was your car the one with the paint that didn't match right or something? I have heard of cars that the dealerships "fix" after they've been messed up on the car carriers or whatever.. that wouldn't show up on a car fax

I want rid of this car, I hate it If you specifically asked them if it was in an accident and they told you no it is not breach of contract but it is selling under false pretenses. I am not sure they have to disclose it without you asking, but it seems as you did ask.
I asked DH (he is an Auto Tech). He said that it could be a bad alignment, or the tires need to be rotated. Given the date of the car though I would be surprised if you need to rotate the tires already unless they were pulled off a used car.
If the axle is off then it could "appear" like a bad alignment but possibly not register on the machine (everything is friggin computerized these days). Also if the rim is not matching the others this can do it too.
I'd go back to the dealership and ask them to measure the alignment and the axle for balance. They are going to *love* you for that one, but hey they are not driving the car.

Let us know what happens! Also DH said if you have had 3 complaints for the same problem, then they should lemon law it. Call corporate or send an email and let them know that you have gone multiple times and to multiple dealerships to try and resolve this.

I went to another chevy dealer and he basically said I was out of luck.....he looked in the computer and there was no evidence of an incident or accident while it was in transport...He then said that I should have had the tires rotated at 5,000 miles so I am out of luck
he said I will need 2 new tires and an alignment
