Car seat recommendations re: 1 v. 2 years
DD is almost 1. I went to my pediatrician yesterday and asked if he agreed that I should wait another year to turn the car seat forward, and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. He said he never heard of any "new" recommendations to wait 2 years and their office gets such literature daily. He said it's still 1 year AND 20 pounds.
So after reading all the threads on here and seeing the horrible videos, etc., my question is - can someone refer me to where these new 2 year recommendations are? Is there some sort of agency or group I can find online to reference when I discuss it with my pediatrician?

The American Academy of Pediatrics changed its recommendation to rear facing until 2 years old. I'm surprised many pediatricians are unaware of the change. Here's an article I found: AAP

ITA. In addition, this is not something I feel I need to discuss with my pediatrician. Its not a medical issue.

Well it kind of is related to anatomy and the strength of a child's head/neck.

I agree, I never thought to ask my ped this -- but I am going to do so this week at Tyler's one year appointment bc I want to see if he's up on the next recommendations
