Turning car seat around @ 1 years old..question

Even though most seat allow the rear facing until 30 lbs, will you still turn your seat around? I think DD would be sooo much happier - but I know rear facing is safer.

We did. It's based on weight which should be listed on the side - I think at least 20 lbs - not sure. Our son was much happier because he has a better view of the world.

14 months and she is still rear facing.
She doesn't seem to mind so we are leaving her that way.

We have an Graco SafeSeat - it is up to 30lbs. So I know it is fine for her right now.

Re: Turning car seat around @ 1 years old..question

DD is 15 months old and just reached the weight limit. She is getting cramped back there and is ruining my seat back with her shoes against it and I read those seat protectors are safety hazards....so We are turning her around this weekend.

ETA: We have her in a Marathon, the weight limit is 33 pounds. By that time the rate DD is gaining she'll be 3 years old by the time we can turn her :)

DS will be 1 next month and I turned his seat around last month. His weight and height met the requirements...

I waited until my daughter was 20 months even though she was above the requirements from before her first birthday -- just made me feel safer.

We're at the weight and the age (almost!) and I plan on keeping them rear facing for a while longer. I feel that there's no real rush to do it.

Re: Turning car seat around @ 1 years old..question

DD is almost 15 mo. Her legs are a bit scrunched, but we're keeping her rear facing for a while yet. It's good rear-facing for up to 33lbs, so we have plenty of margin.

Safety is foremost, so we're not turning her around until we determine that it's in her best interest to. She probably will prefer being rear-facing, since her brother is forward facing next to her, and it's easier for them to see each other that way.

DD is almost 2 and still rear facing. She is only 21 pounds and we just feel that's its safer. It doesn't seem to bother her so we see no reason to change it yet.

Re: Turning car seat around @ 1 years old..question

I just recently did it this month. DS is 14 months old. At his 1 year checkup he was 18lbs 14 oz. and 30 inches. Don't know what he weighs now but we just thought it was time. He likes the new view, especially seeing his daddy driving. Now whenever DH is at a red light he's always turning around and making silly faces at DS...
