car seats
does it matter if you put the car seat in the middle or to one side of the car? I thought it was supposed to go in the middle but i have seen alot of people lately with it to one side

Wherever it fits best is where you are supposed to put it.

Re: car seats
Definitely no law, otherwise everyone with more than one DC would be in jail! On most cars, the middle is safest. Some cars don't have the LATCH connectors in the middle. Some parents just can't reach to the middle of the car to deal with a center car seat. Other people have other DC, or other adults in the back seat, so a center seat won't work. The preferred order of putting in car seats is center, then passenger side, then driver's side. Passenger side is better than driver's side, so if you are parked on the side of the road, you are taking DC out on the side of the road, not in the middle of oncoming traffic.

Not a law at all. Some cars can't even have the car in the middle due to year/model.
The middle is supposed to be the safest, mostly because of side impacts.
The next safest place is the rear seat on the passenger side because you are less likely to be hit on that side of your car in an accident. That's where DS carseat is. I can't reach the middle seat.
